1968 Fiat 850 COUPE Description

CLEAR TITLE!!! Drop dead gorgeous SERIES ONE 1968 850 Coupe. 3rd owner. These Series One 850 Coupes are getting impossible to find in any condition. This one wears it's original colors GREEN/TAN. Original Spare Wheel with Original Pirelli Tire, Original Jack. Car has been very well maintained throughout it's life until 2nd owner passed. Car runs and drives great, suspension tight, shifts awesome, but will need a few items to be roadworthy, nothing major. 850s are very easy to work on. You can fix these items and drive like it is or this is an incredible start for a full restoration. Floors/rockers solid. The rear floors have been paneled over at some point (see photos). There is some rust through under where the spare tire goes and cowl is rusted through where original owner got lazy and did not clean it out from time to time(see photos). The rest of the underside is VERY solid and clean. Battery box is actually in good shape. Body is in great condition(see photos), a few blemishes and some small rust at bottoms of front fenders. Here are the details:
Car was resprayed to a high quality, way back when, in matching original color. Paint still holding up great, but does have some flakes, chips, etc. Interior is in surprising condition if original. I imagine front and rear seats have been recovered at some point....but they, like the paint were done to factory specs, very well done. It IS possible they are original....but I'm not sure...the only explanation of their condition would be if seat covers were used their whole life. I will let you be the judge. Door panels and all other interior panels are original and in decent condition. No rips, tears, etc. Headliner great. I have the passenger side glove box shelving. Car runs great, but idle jet needs to be cleaned out again, it takes a little while to idle well...but once warmed up it does well. Car goes through the gears great. I did have the head re-surfaced and replaced the head gasket as the car had sat for a couple of years. Better safe than sorry. Valves adjusted of course, engine cranks up first twist of ignition, every time. Engine sounds glorious(see video). Suspension is tight, no funny noises at all. There are new brake rubber lines and brake fluid reservoirs present.

Not alot to say about this. The pictures kind of speak for themselves. Listed below are things needing attention of you want to make it a roadworthy driver. Only body rust is a little rust through underneath passenger headlight (common on these), bottoms of front fenders, some bubbling at edge of engine decklid. Front passenger fender does have a dent (see photos). The rest of the body is in amazing condition for it's age. Top has a few very soft depressions, but will come out with suction cup. I did a couple of spots and it worked fine. Bumpers are LASER STRAIGHT. Car was obviously well maintained throughout it's life and NEVER wrecked.
If you want to make this a daily driver.....Gas tank will need replacing, (it is running on an auxiliary tank at the moment), brakes will need attention, e-brake is working fine, CV boots are leaking, easy fix. Water pump needs a new gasket between pump and block ($3.00), leaks a little. The original owner got lazy and didn't clean out the cowl from time to time. It has rusted out where the heater core attaches. Heater core has been removed but I do have it. If you don't drive it in the rain...it's no problem I guess. The previous owner replaced the combination switch (turn signal and headlight high/low controls) but never hooked it up. I'm trying to figure out which harness from the aftermarket switch goes to which harness under dash. Wiring has NOT been molested. Once I figure this out, I imagine headlights and turn signals will work fine. Oh, rear brake lenses will be needed. Tachometer and wipers working.
OK, here is all the stuff I have to state for the brilliance of the world:
