1959 Fiat Other -- Description

1959 FIAT 600 --Coral red paintwork, Custom black/red interior, Inline 4-cylinder engine, 4-speed manual gearbox, restored. The Fiat 600 was the popular successor to the Fiat Topolino and was Italy’s answer to the VW Beetle’s massive worldwide success. The 600 was Engineered by Dante Giacosa, whose career includes a variety of fantastic road and racing cars for Fiat and Cisitalia. The basic design was somewhat similar to a Beetle, but with some key differences: a water-cooled inline engine, unibody construction, and... it was a bit more compact overall. A clever layout allowed space to seat four and even include a small trunk area. The car was incredibly efficient and versatile and few automakers of the 1950s and 1960s could compete with Italian manufacturer Fiat. The 600 was idea for economy-minded post-war suburban life, and their design was universally appealing. This example is a recipient of a recent restoration, showing excellent quality finishes and materials. The paint and bodywork present beautifully throughout, and the roof features a meticulously painted black checkerboard motif – an homage to Abarth models of the era. The interior is trimmed in high quality leather, with custom details in patterned and contrast stitching. The lightweight alloy engine is nicely detailed and features quality finishes on its components. Similarly, the trunk is tidy and detailed with an OEM fluted rubber mat, an original style washer bag, and a correct spare wheel with leather retaining strap. All of the restoration photos will accompany this 600. Overall this is a well restored example, combining a quality restoration with a high level of character and charm. This 600 is a pleasure to drive and will be a welcome addition to any collection.
