1978 fiat 124 spider 1.8l Track Day Car
1978 Fiat 124 Spider Description
Lost it's spot in the pole barn due to my wife's new travel trailer. Built up this little beauty about 10 years ago to run around Gingerman Raceway when it had Thursday nite test and tunes for 60 bucks. Did about 100 or so laps on the few nites I went before price started going up and then they did away with it. Has the original stock 1800 engine but I did swap tranny for one that didn't pop out of gear. I stripped off Everything not needed, fixed up a few rust spots here and there, welded in one new fender flare, added a little bondo here and there, and sprayed a quality rust oxide primer - looks good at 50mph from 50 feet. I had it street legal so I could drive to and from the track, also bopped around the country side. Lites and horn still working as well as all the gauges. Pro-bent and welded in roll bar, Lexan windscreen, aluminum race seat and 5-point seat belts, electric fuel pump with shut-off switch, and some vintage American Wheel alloy wheels. I hadn't run in about 5 years, but splashed a little gas in the carb and started right up. Gave me no problems at the track. I just ran stock 165-12 tires and the backs are pretty treadless from G-Man. I do have a pretty new pair of 175-12's on stock wheels for taller gearing. I did rob back the motorcycle turn signals I had mounted up front, so that is about all you need for the road - and a new battery. The brakes felt a bit draggy as I drove around the driveway, but I think just needs a few miles to scrape the rotors clean (front AND back disc, by the way...)Needs a good home.I have a current MI title in my name.
