1981 Fiat 124 Spider Pinafarina Description

1981 FIAT Spider 2000 Pina Farina – larger 1,995cc fuel injected engine – 68K

This is originally a Texas car, no rust…Garage kept in GA. I have taken some videos of the car in operation, just this week, and right after finishing an extensive restore of the vehicle. If you are looking for a fully functional FIAT 124 Spider, that runs as good as it looks, here it is – I will not get too chummy with the sales pitch, just look below at all the work that has been done and check out the videos to view it’s performance…I have included pictures of some of the parts that have been installed – All work has been meticulously performed (per spec - correct bolt / nut torqueing, calibration, part prep, painting and more…)

Engine

New cylinder head and gasket w new valves, stems and seals -New timing belt, tensioner and pulleys -New ignition wires and ignition coil -New engine hoses, belts and clamps - Professionally cleaned fuel injectors - Intake manifold cleaned and polished with all new surface gaskets – Performance exhaust header - ANSI exhaust muffler with new rubber supports - All new fuel system hoses, filters, fuel rail regulator and Bosch fuel pump - Fuel tank professionally removed, cleaned and restored to like-new condition (electrolytic ally cleaned) – New water pump - Radiator flush and new long-life fluid - New Amsoil and filter - New OEM throttle cable –Purchase comes with the Original FIAT owner manual and FIAT 124 factory service manual.

Brakes / Suspension / Transmission / Driveline

New master cylinder – (4) New brake wheel hoses – (4) Rebuilt brake calipers with high-temperature high gloss paint - New OEM front and rear brake pads – Fully-bled brake system with new DOT 5 synthetic brake oil – (4) New slotted high –performance rotors – (4) New wheel bearings – (4) sets of new upper / lower ball joints - Refurbished and re-painted upper / lower A-arms with new bushings all around - New Excel gas shocks (front and rear) - New upper / lower shock mounts and rubber bushings - OEM Cromodora wheels, including a full spare - Brand new Hangook tires - New wheel lugs - Wheel wells were repainted with undercoat (There was NO hiding of rust – Again, this was a Texas car with no rust!) Rebuilt FIAT Spider 124 2000 (5) speed transmission (completed by Alfa Romeo certified rebuilder) ***Most all period FIAT Spiders will NOT stay in gear with original worn out trans. & synchro’s - no worry here***

New clutch, plate, throw-out bearing and clutch cable - New transmission flex bearing - Rebuilt driveshaft – (2) new universal joints, clips, center support collar and bearing, new grease and balanced. Rear Differential – Removed, inspected for lash, refurbished with new seals, new pumpkin cover gasket, re-painted and filled with 80w - 90 synthetic Amsoil diff fluid. Steering gear box and steering idler inspected / adjusted to spec and refilled with oil.

Body / Interior

No rust and no Bondo – garage kept -All sway bars, trailing arms and cross member bars / tubes were removed, refurbished / repainted / re-torqued and reinstalled with new bushings - Entire interior was removed and Dynamat sound dampening was installed prior to rebuild (including doors). Seat buckets (front and rear) have been removed, restored, and repainted – Entire New carpet set, new leather including front / rear seats, new kick panels, body doors and all new window / door moldings and seals - New convertible California OEM top and seals - New wiper blades - Original OEM boot cover – Original era and engraved NARDI racing wheel – Custom made stained oak dash panels. New internal window mechanisms.


Wiring

Upgraded head light circuitry – dual relay system (moves high-voltage off of ignition switch) - FIAT 124 System grounds cleaned and refurbished - New upgraded Halogen headlights.

Notes:

This car starts, runs, and rips like factory new – if not better! It's handling and driving characteristics are outstanding! See videos below - All driving was done near full rev and at high-speed - You can also hear the tire-chirps when I downshift and brake from high speed to illustrate it's robustness / precision - I did not hold back, and it does this again and again - plug and play hard!
