This 4 speed manual transmission small pick up runs great and is a pleasure to drive. It's not perfect, but for it's age and location it is holding up very well,
I am selling it because I don't have the money or garage to give it the attention and storage I think it deserves. It is so much fun to drive, and the simplicity of the engine and truck in general has made upkeep and small repairs easy.
I bought this truck two years ago from a friend, because I needed a truck. I didn't really know what I was getting into, and now that I can appreciate how cool of a truck it is I don't feel right keeping it outdoors during the winter. During that time it has been in the shop once for a tune up, and all other maintenance and repairs were minor that I did myself (new radiator, alternator and fuel pump).
Because of the onset of rust at various points around the car I think it would be better served in someone elses hands. Since I don't know that much about cars I don't know how much work needs to be done to deal with the rust. I tried to take photos of all areas of the car.
The odometer only goes to 100,000, so it's hard to gauge what the actual mileage is. I have put roughly 20,000 miles on it in the last 2 years, and the odometer was at 82,000 when I bought it.
It burns through oil pretty quickly, and seems to go through phases where reverse has trouble syncing up (there is no synchromesh on the reverse gear). Remedied by either going into 3rdbefore reverse, or if it's really fussy turning off the truck and starting back up in reverse.
It will probably need a new muffler soon, I had to do a DIY repair on the existing muffler as the last pipe section became disconnected from the wide section before it.
Little quirks:
- give in the steering wheel
-the clutch doesn't travel far before it hits the floor (although no problem engaging the clutch)
- truck will “diesel” when shut off (ie keep trying to run), so there's a trick to shutting it off.
Let me know if you need photos of specific place or have any questions.
