1965 Ford Mustang Description

Please make a note, his is how you build a great Mustang resto-mod. Built with an eye towards making it look vintage, t now packs a strong running 302, n upgraded interior, nd that classic fastback look that makes it one of the slickest cars of the '60s. Fully sorted with just a few thousand miles on the build, t's everything you ever wanted from your next vintage Mustang. It's probably also safe to call this one a an attention magnet Sure, ny Mustang 2+2 has a reputation, ut the bright red paint on this one is certainly brilliant enough to make it the center of attention just about anywhere it goes. Dressed up in full Shelby regalia with stripes and G.T. 350 callouts, his pony was transformed into a slick tribute that gets its appreciative glances the old-fashioned way: it earns them with great gaps and a shiny paint job. Fit and finish are excellent, lthough it has seen some use since it was completed a few years ago, ut that only means it's fully sorted out. There are correct Shelby details throughout, rom the open grille with offset pony emblem to the hood pins to the small hood scoop, nd all the chrome has been shined up to look brilliant against the bright red paint. It's not going to pass for a real one at the Mustang national meet but for most folks, bright red Mustang fastback of any kind is a real treat and this one has a fantastic look that stands up to scrutiny. The red interior is every bit as nice as the exterior and continues the theme. Those cool ProCar buckets look fantastic in red and definitely make this car look and feel serious. In addition to the seats, he carpets, ash pad, nd door panels were replaced when the car was restored and still look great today. The back seat is gone, o there's a vast cargo bay that'll carry tires, pares, nd a ton of groceries, aking this Mustang one of the more practical hobby cars you can own. The factory center console was replaced by a custom unit that houses the shifter for the AOD transmission plus a pair of cup holders. The gauges are cool vintage dials from Mooneyes and keep an eye on the revitalized powerplant, nd there's an AM/FM radio in the dash, gain keeping with the low-profile theme. Besides, ith a car that runs like this, ou won't be needing that big stereo system anyway. The real story is the strong-running 302 cubic inch V8 under the hood. As a Windsor small block, f course it fits perfectly between the vintage Mustang's shock towers and looks right dressed in Cobra valve covers and air cleaner. The conversion is a popular one, ut that doesn't make it easy, ut it's nice to see that they went the extra mile to get everything working properly. There are three 2-barrel carburetors up top, n exotic setup that actually works rather well. It starts instantly and idles well and there's torque and horsepower everywhere on the tach. There's a big aluminum radiator up front but that's the only thing that jumps out as not being from 1965. Underneath, he floors are in good order and block-hugger headers feed a mellow dual exhaust system that fits neatly around a new gas tank. Classic Shelby 10-spoke wheels with staggered 215/65/15 front and 235/60/15 rear radials fill the wheel wells and give it a great stance. This is a no-compromises vintage cruiser that runs like a modern car and looks like a classic Mustang.
