1930 Ford model A coupe street rod with Big Block Chevy 468 and TCI frame
1930 Ford Model A Description
Hello, I'm reluctantly selling my 1930 chopped model A street rod. I just don't drive it much anymore and I could use the garage space for my daily driver. The car is beautiful, original Henry Ford steel body on a TCI aftermarket frame. It has a 4 inch chop that was beautifully done, no waves and has held up very well since it was done in the late 1980's. The paint is really nice out in the sun, There are no dents or body damage. The engine only has a few hundred miles on it, fully rebuilt with a forged crank, mid 1970's block bored out to 468 cubic inches. Forged Probe pistons, I beam rods, comp roller cam with roller rockers, aluminum big valve heads, Edelbrock street tunnel ram intake, twin edelbrock 500cfm carbs, Mallory ignition, hi flow wayer pump, new high volume alum radiator with electric fan and large overflow tank. Literally every engine part is high quality and new. New torque converter and a built B&M TH350 trans.
Has a narrowed 9 inch ford rear end with race axles, new brgs, posi, and new 4;11 gears. Rear end has disc brake conversion giving it four wheel disc brakes. The car is built on a TCI frame that can handle the Big Block, has coil over shocks on all corners, rack and pinion steering.
The interior is vinyl and fabric and in very good shape. The dash has vdo gauges and an OK stereo system with four speakers. Trunk has an aluminum fuel cell and has a hidden red top battery. There is a power master switch hidden behind the cab seat to cut all power.
The pinstriping on the car was done by the now deceased Big Daddy Roth (ratfink himself) and is excellent.
The wheels are Weld racing units, firestone tires front and Mickey Thompson rear.
Has heat coated headers with side pipes, car has just the right sound, loud but not obnoxious.
Doors have new weather strip and shut solid. Windows don't rattle and go up and down fine. Windshield is lexan and I planned on replacing it with glass at some point but never got to it.
Car has an aftermarket 1932 grill and a new trans cooler is mounted in front of the radiator.
That's a basic description of the car, if you have specific questions please let me know. The car runs well, but I live at 9000 ft above sea level and the tunnel ram is not a great choice for this altitude. If you live close to sea level you should do great as is. May require some tuning for optimal performance.
Because of the nature of hot rodding I'm not able to give a warranty with this, the car is sold as is.
Note: I don't have access to the actual mileage of the car at the time of writing this ad, but I believe it to be around 20k. I will update with actual mileage asap. As I said the drive line has only a few hundred miles on it.
I have a very reasonable Buy it Now price on this considering the build cost was well over 45k. I will also entertain offers but can't go much lower than the listed price. All shipping costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. I will help any way I can with the loading of the vehicle. You are of course welcome to come pick the car up in person. If doing so I suggest you use a car trailer, I've driven this on the highway for a few hundred miles and the 4;11 gears make it a bit of a chore. Best for around town cruising.
Please Note! There is a non refundable deposit of $500 due withing 48 hours of buying this car! The remaining amount is due in person or by certified check within 7 days of purchasing this vehicle. Please only hit the purchase button if you are able to comply with these deadlines.
Also, please note that in 1930 people were MUCH smaller than they are now. At the risk of being politically incorrect, if you are 275 lbs or well over 6 feet tall you flat out aren't going to fit in one of these! I'm 6 foot and 190 and I'm fine. I just don't want you to buy something you can't fit in!
This car is a blast and I'll really miss it. It gets attention unlike anything else I've ever driven. Everyone knows the American Graffiti movie and there is no better example of an American Hot Rod than the model A coupe done up like this!!!!
Thanks for looking!
