1965 Ford Mustang Convertible Description

This 1965 Ford Mustang convertible hits all the right buttons: a bright red Mustang convertible with a 289 and just ONE OWNER. If you've been waiting for the right one to show up, here it is.According to the door tag, this Mustang is still wearing its original-spec code J Rangoon Red. To be honest, this is probably the car most folks imagine when you say "1965 Mustang convertible" and there's no shame in being America's favorite convertible. The clean, straightforward lines of the 1965 Mustang always look best in red, making it look as quick and agile as it actually is. The finish has some age on it, but is holding up well; besides, who can blame the owner for driving and enjoying the car for the past 51 years? It's still a great cruiser that will draw an appreciative crowd at the local cruise night and the tidy bodywork gives away nothing to the newer cars. The paint is a combination of original and repainted areas, as the quarters were repaired about 25 years ago, but it certainly looks to have been done properly and professionally. There's nice chrome, including the 1965 grille with cross bars and both bumpers, as well as all the correct emblems and badges. It's still the ultimate summer time fun machine and this one matches that description perfectly: comfortable, casual, and ready to have fun.Staying true to the original code 65 Red Crinkle Vinyl with Pony Interior, the seat upholstery and seat belts were replaced several years ago but have been protected from the sun ever since, and it shows. The workmanship is very well done and the seat covers fit snugly without any wrinkles. And while the carpets do show some fade in the typical areas, time has been quite easy on them and they remain in quite good condition. It's got the GT-spec 5-gauge instrument panel, which surprisingly was original equipment on this car as it was part of a "custom interior package" which included the gauges and fancier door panels. Cool! A modern AM/FM radio is in the dash and we're pleased to say that everything works properly on this car, suggesting that it's led a very easy life. The white vinyl top uses a crystal clear plastic rear window and stows under a matching red boot that's unquestionably original. The trunk might have been treated to a new mat at some point, but that's original Rangoon Red paint in there, more evidence of a super clean survivor. There's no way to determine matching numbers in an early Mustang, but when you get it from the original owner, you know that it's the original, numbers-matching C-code 289. It was rebuilt a few years ago, but they left the tinwork largely original and we have to say the patina is kind of appealing. On the other hand, you can see a lot of new stuff, including belts, hoses, water pump, ignition components, and even the radiator. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission is the perfect companion to the easy-cruising 2-barrel 289 and it has a robust feeling that encourages you to have fun. Underneath you'll find all the factory convertible reinforcements are in place and in good order and with 2.80 gears out back, it's a great candidate for road trips. It's also worth noting that it carries factory power steering, which makes it easy to handle, as well as beautiful styled steel wheels with 195/70/14 Goodyear radials. It's also nicely documented with the original window sticker, maintenance records, and other paperwork. This awesome Mustang is ideal for cruising and will draw a crowd everywhere it goes. Call today!
