1939 Ford Other Description

This is a 1939 Ford Coupe that was turned into a Hotrod sometime in the 50's. The story I was given on it is that it was an old moonshine car that came out of Tennessee. I cannot confirm or deny that. It's powered by a 276 Desoto Hemi which runs great and doesn't smoke at all. It's mated to a freshly rebuilt 39 Ford transmission. It has some neat custom details such as the 49 Merc Dash, Ford Shoebox plate surround, Dodge taillights and custom gas door. The seat is covered in a neat old seat cover that compliments the period white headliner. As far as the mechanicals go I installed a 4" drop axle, new kingpins, new tie rod and drag link. I installed a dual master cylinder and ran all new brake lines. It has fresh Firestone Gum Dipped Bias Ply Whitewalls. I just installed the rebuilt 39 trans and while I had it out i also installed a new clutch and pressure plate. It has all new plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Brand new coil and battery. Carburetor has been rebuilt. Car was converted to 12 volt by previous owner. The original fuel tank is still in the car but the previous owner installed a fuel cell in the trunk because the tank had sludge in it. I had planned on getting rid of the cell and putting in a new tank just never got around to it. The trunk latch mechanism is missing. All in all this is a really cool survivor Hotrod. It's far from perfect, it has its share of scratches and dings but it gives the car some character and its a really neat piece of history. I just did a couple hundred miles on it last weekend and it went down the road beautifully. I've had a blast with this car and I hate to see it go but I have too many cars.
