This auction is for a 1988 Ford Mustang LX SSP Oregon State Police Interceptor. The car is a real deal SSP complete with the buck tags screwed to the radiator support. The car is in very good condition considering it is 28 years old. It starts and runs every time you get behind the wheel, very reliable, I would not hesitate to drive anywhere in this car. It has been stored every winter since I’ve had it. In fact, every spring when I get it home it fires up first crank. The T-5 transmission is in very good condition but is not the original for the car. The clutch is good and grabs right in the middle as it should. The body is very good with no damage. You can tell it has had a fender replaced but overall very solid. The doors are starting to get a little rust at the weep holes on the bottom and a flat piece under the trunk lid on the passenger fender needs attention but no other problems. The engine runs smooth and makes great power it burns about a quart of oil between oil changes (3000 miles). The air conditioner does not work very well it will need to be looked at if need AC. The car is bare bones with the only power options being power steering and power windows (passenger side does not work) a ford factory radio has been installed to give some music. As you may have noted this car came with the factory roll bar. It has been modified by welding it to the frame and bolting it to the pillar behind the front seats. All lights work including the spot light. The headlights have small cracks and take on some water. I’ve had no problems with them you can deal with it as you see fit. It has the standard for police packages single key for both the ignition, doors and trunk. There are remote releases for the gas door and trunk in the glove box. The tires and brakes are good with no problems. This car has been modified per the following list:
Ford motorsports aluminum driveshaft.
Ford motorsports 5 lug conversion both front and rear.
Rear end has been redone including new axle bearings, rebuilt posi and new ring and pinion (3:73) all from Ford motorsports.
It has sway bars front and rear.
It has aftermarket control arm in the rear and stabilizers on the front.
It has a chassis stiffener under the hood attached at the shock towers and at the firewall.
The exhaust is all Flowmaster from the stock exhaust manifolds to the rear including X-pipe, WITH NO CATYLETIC CONVERTERS!
Sub-frame connectors welded in place with the roll bar attached.
The driver seat has a track installed that moves the seat back 4 ½ inches for tall drivers.
Comes with the mates to the mismatched seats that you see installed plus an aftermarket race seat with mount that I never installed (see picture).
It also comes with a light bar, radio, radar (complete with tuning forks) and siren so you can restore it if you wish.
It has Ford Crown Vic 16-inch steel wheels that you would find on a police cruiser.
And after all that we come to the important part. A down payment of $500.00 is required.
