1969 Ford Mustang Base Convertible Description

DESCRIPTION

My 1969 Mustang convertible is a mostly original survivor with a movie history. (Check the bottom of the listing to see if any information has been added after the listing has bids.) Email me with questions. It has 86,xxx actual miles on the odometer. Bidders are welcome to come to Colorado and see the car in person before bidding. Questions are encouraged by email or phone.

This car has been babied and garaged all it's life. I'm the 3rd owner but the 2nd owner only had it long enough to flip it on eBay after he bought it at auction in 2003.I have documentation from the 1st owner. She got it as a Christmas gift in 1969 and used it for a number of years before storing it for 15 years. They had the car painted once sometime along the way.

In 1972 they loaned the car out to appear in a movie. It was 30 Dangerous Seconds, a thriller starring Robert Lansing that was never widely released. There is a copy to be seen online at Utube. There are no chase scenes, nothing too exciting but the car is easy to spot with the star driving it. That's because not too many convertibles back then had AC and very few had sport mirrors from the dealer like this one did. The same aluminum type windshield wipers are still on the car also. I remember Robert Lansing from a role on the original Star Trek. This movie was a bit of a sleeper but it had some high points like a bank robber dressed as a clown and a body in a freezer, fun stuff. I have a document referring to the movie.

Payment will have to be made in a secure way such as cash or a wire transfer or cashier’s check. The car or title won’t be released until the payment has cleared. I have a car trailer and so delivery could be arranged to a location not too far away for a reasonable fee but delivery further away would have to be arranged by the buyer.

I have added a Pertronix ignitor in place of the points. I also added a Monte Carlo bar under the hood for support. I put in a middle seat belt in the back seat so that we could take 3 little kids to Dairy Queen. It has the original hubcaps. The windows work although I help them roll up and down to keep them working as they move hard.

It’s in mostly original condition but the repainted paint is faded. I don't believe that the car was ever wrecked. It is Acapulco Blue and that was the original color as well. It was an Oklahoma City car and then a Colorado car so it has very minimal rust. The photos under the car were taken through a mirror with a wooden frame by the way. The car runs and shifts fine and the air conditioning even blows cold after I put a little R12 in.

What is NEEDED: The power top hose has a leak and so I have been filling up the reservoir once or twice summer to keep it working right. The blue vinyl interior is original but the driver's seat is coming apart and the lower replacement fabric comes with it. It needs armrests and door panels as well. The dash is cracked and needs replacing and I have it to go with the car unless the buyer wants a discount instead for me to keep it to sell. The driver's seat belt needs a new plastic cover but it works fine as is. The emergency/parking brake doesn't lock into place. A restoration would require at least 1 bumper and some trim for sure.

It’s an F code 302 2 barrel with an automatic transmission. It's got the original drum manual brakes with single exhaust. Options that it came with include power steering, a power convertible top, and AC. The car was a daily driver for it's first few years and so there are some rock chips in the front and door dings all around. The original top boot and bag and headlight aimers are there. The original AM radio is there and it works. The original top is showing it's age but doesn't leak and has no major problems other than the hose leak.

On Oct-15-16 at 11:18:17 PDT, seller added the following information:

This car is roadworthy and could be driven anywhere, but it is still an older car with old parts. When I bought it in 2003 I flew to Oklahoma and drove it to Colorado and we put on less than 4000 miles since then. I bought new tires at home so they are very good but are over 10 years old. There is a spare and jack in the trunk.

I have a folder of documents which show the original ownership papers and most receipts for anything ever done to the car. There is a letter from the original owner which mentions that car had never been in an accident and refers to the car being loaned out to be in the movie. It gives a history of the car and includes some photos.

I have 4 chrome sport wheels which go with the car. They need trim rings. No extra charge for the bald tires. I never installed those wheels. I intended to restore the car but never got it done but I do have many of the parts needed such as the dash pad.

I added 3 photos including one of the data plate which shows the body color trim date dso axle trans = 76A 6 2B 02E 65 6 W .
