1970 Ford Mustang MACH 1 Description

1970 MACH 1

M Code 351 C

Survivor

3 owner car, well documented, never wrecked, rust free, 72k original documented mileage.

Video of the car is on You Tube- 1970 MACH 1 351 C, October 2016 – For some reason a link cannot be used on ebay. The video shows the car going driven down the road, a lot of close-up video and some good pictures. The engine does not smoke, knock, make any noise, transmission shifts firm.

This is by far the best driving, cruising, no rattle early Mustang I have ever driven. Runs super smooth, shifts great and real joy to drive.

Sold new by Schanzmeyer Ford in Jefferson City Iowa and the original owner kept it for 20 years, 2nd owner had it for 23 years in Chicago and I have owned the MACH 1 for 3 years. Both owners have said the valve covers have never been off the engine and never had any the car apart, it is the way it rolled off the line. The 2nd owner kept a note book on every time he drove it, miles driven, date, fuel mileage and any maintenance.

This is a totally rust free car that retains about 50% of the original paint and it still looks great, it has chips and is a bit thin in spots but original. The roof and quarters were touched up in the 80’s and it was a real nice job and was matched well. Interior is super nice and all original. The trunk has the original burtex trunk mat and jack, original jacking instruction decal is on the lid (upside down, quality was job #1). Under the hood is great, original slop grey on the right parts, upper shock plates are still

natural finish, zero rust on the top corners of the inner fender/shock tower (these almost always have rot), the remains of the battery OK decal and firewall stickers are still there. Buck tag on rad support.

This car is very correct, all options match the build sheet, door tag is in great shape as well. Numbers matching engine and never out. You name it and it is the correct part, part number or date code.

What has been changed over the years-exhaust, tires (original rims that still have the paint dabs on them), master cylinder, radiator hoses (heater hoses are original), battery, alternator belt, plug wires and cap.

The trim is real nice, front bumpers are original and nice, the taillight trim has a little pitting, glue is still behind the rear plate from the tie down sticker.

The underside is absolutely rust free but has never had any detailing done to it.

Everything works as it should, this is a well-documented, original car, these are getting real hard to find. It always attracts a crowd when taken to a cruise night or car show. It is a great reference on how they were in 1970. The only annoying thing is the choke does not work well and it is a little cold blooded until it warms up a bit. One of the things that I have always said I will adjust but forget about by the time I get home.
