1962 Ford Falcon Futura
Inline 6 “170 Special Engine”, 3 speed manual (on the tree)
Bucket Seats and Console
78,XXX miles
For sale is a great opportunity to own a “Time Capsule” Ford Falcon Futura. This car is a SURVIVOR! This car comes many of the desirable options available at the time: Upgraded engine (from 144ci), Buckets and Console, Two-tone factory paint, Thunderbird Style Top (versus the wrap around style).
Engine:
Ford “170 Special” Inline 6, 1 Barrel Carb, Manual Choke
Sure, this isn’t the car you take to the strip; not to win at least, but this engine runs STRONG. Everything was rebuilt from the head up in 2013. Valve cover and air cleaner were restored, though air cleaner is starting to show its natural age once again with some chippin. With Pertronix installed, she fires right up and gets surprising mileage: upwards of 25-27 MPG on the highway.
The radiator was upgraded to a new Champion 2 Core Aluminum Radiator with a new flex fan to match. Included with the car is a custom-made, billet Falcon radiator cap.
Transmissionshifts great and the clutch is good. 2nd/3rd gear aresynchronized.
Interior:
I am assuming the interior was restored at some point, as the condition is too good to be original. Whoever did the restoration did it right. The bucket seats are comfier than my office chair. Interior/Carpet are a 9/10 as the vinyl is starting to show wear and age. Seat belts installed.
Headliner is in great shape and all trim/emblems are present (and also in great shape).
Body:
The body has a natural look with surface rust and patina. While there are a couple dents, this is one of the nicest 10 footer cars you may ever see. With some body work and paint restoration, this is absolutely a trophy car. The rear bumper could use some love.
All Futura trim is present and in great shape. You won’t have to spend years searching for that missing emblem or trim piece as it’s all there and installed.
Floorpans and wheel wells are in good shape. No major concerns.
Wheels/Brakes:
The car comes with baby moon hubcaps and trim rings on its original, 13” wheels (4 lug). Tires are in good shape with plenty of tread. Drum brakes were serviced prior to purchase in 2013 and function well.
Summary:
This is a great opportunity to take home a survivor, numbers matching, highly desirable Falcon Futura. This is a great car to start your classic collection or to build onto your Falcon army!
