1957 Ford Thunderbird Description

1957 FORD THUNDERBIRD CONVERTIBLE
This car was purchased new at Francis Ford in downtown Portland. The owner kept this57years until he moved into assisted living.Less than 4 percent of the 1955 to 1957 Thunderbirds had manual transmissions. Even less with overdrive, when you look at the extra cost on the window sticker. This is a hard top only car. This car in it's original condition, has survived in a manner that few early Thunderbirds ever have.
The car has been repainted in the correct Torch red, to a high quality. It has never been damaged andthe doors, hood and trunk fit as they did from the factory. There is no rust anywhere. The sides are laser straight. The glass is all in nice condition. All the original body rubber is still soft. The chrome, including bumpers, is amazing and nothing has ever been replaced. The stainless has survived with nonicks or dents and retains a high polish. The glass is all in nice condition. Still retains it's original lifeguard sticker in the drivers door jam.
The 312 V8 engine is the original motor that came in the car new. Starts and runs like a watch. The manual transmission shifts smooth and the overdrive works properly for freeway use. The clutch, battery, power steering ram, brakes, carburetor, radiator and much more have been addressed due to it sitting most of the last 35 years. All the fluids were refreshed. The tires are new.It retains its original windshield washer bag under the hood.
The interior is very nice. The seats, kick panels, trunk mat and door panels are original and never been repaired. The dashchrome and spun aluminum are not scratched or pitted. All the gauges, tachometer and lights work properly. The town and country radio does not work.
There is over 400 hours spent an the car, not including paint, doing a preservation restoration keeping it as original as possible. When the seat was removed a Chuck Berry 45 RPM record was found and 1960's aviator sunglasses. The trunk is totally original with jacking instructions, complete jack, trunk mat and spare. Retains the 1960 Oregon registration card in his name. The keys are original, also the owners manual and Town and Country operation instructions. Included isthe 1957 dated service book. The dealer window sticker is in good condition.
