1971 F250 2wd camper special
1971 Ford F-250 Camper Special Description
This is a 1971 Ford F250 regular cab Camper Special. It is in very good condition and runs well. I have owned for almost 4 years. In that time I have: re-painted it the original beautiful orange color and had a spray-on bed liner applied, had the under-hood area also treated with the spray-on liner. I also had the trim painted but, as can be seen in the pictures, it's peeling in places. I had the brakes replaced (new discs and pads in front, new pads and hardware in rear), new bearings on all four corners, replaced the radiator and power steering pump, installed a rebuilt carb, new battery, plugs, cap and wires, and a new steering wheel. The rubber inlet hoses for both tanks were replaced and a new sending unit was installed in the rear tank. I also installed a new rear sliding window. The truck also has a new 3-core radiator because the original was rusted and beginning to leak. (Previous owner put straight water in it.) It has never over-heated while I've had it and it runs a consistent 180 degrees. The odometer shows 57000 but I would imagine it's really 157000.
The truck drives well, tracks straight, brakes well and could be driven daily. I drive it several times a week.
The truck has the original 390 which was rebuilt before I bought it. It has an Edelbrock 750 carb and Edelbrock intake. It has a mild cam and Hedman Headers. The headers leak a bit on one side so I purchased a new set that will go with the truck - they just need to be installed. It has a 3-speed automatic (C6 I believe) which shifts smoothly. I also purchased new outside mirrors (black to replace the chrome) and those also go with the truck.
There is no rust on the body of the undercarriage.
The interior is in pretty good shape. The driver's side of the bench seat has a tear. The dash has a crack and the speaker grate was removed. I took off the seat cover and dash cover so those would be obvious. Otherwise the inside is good to go. It has aftermarket gauges and a "Legacy" radio with tape player and auxiliary input. Every thing works (lights, gauges, wipers, etc.) It has a ball hitch as well.
This is a great truck which I love and all my friends are shocked I'm selling it. I'm only selling the truck because we are moving up north and I need a 4x4 truck. Would be interested in trading for an F250 or other full-sized 4x4 pickup, preferably crew-cab and preferably diesel. Will consider adding cash for the right truck.
Please take a look at the pictures and ask any questions before you buy. Please only bid if you can pay for the truck. Has to be cash, cashier's check or wire transfer. No PayPal, personal checks or any other methods except the possible trade. Buyer is responsible for shipping although if you are in SoCal we might be able to work something out.
Truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early.
