1955 Ford Other Base Description

1955 Ford Country Sedan Six-Passenger Station Wagon
Formerly of "The Charlie Thomas Collection" until 2012, this vehicle's current owner has continued to maintain this vehicle to a high standard.
This vehicle is in turn key condition mechanically and was refreshed from bumper to bumper in 2013 with over $15k invested mechanically (receipts included).
The vehicle is ready for show or daily fair weather driving.
Model 79B. 200 bhp, 292 cu. in. OHV V-8 engine, three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 115.5 in.
Ford offered no fewer than five station wagons in 1955: two 2-door Ranch Wagons in two stages of trim, four-door Country Sedans in both six- and eight-passenger configuration, and the flagship County Squire, an eight-passenger four-door with elegant wood grain appliqué.
This six-passenger Country Sedan has been the recipient of a three-year professional nut-and-bolt restoration with a few custom touches. The Y-block V-8 has been uprated with three 2-barrel carburetors and dual exhausts. American racing wheels with B.F. Goodrich radial tires give the car a much improved ride and handling. The interior has a mild roll and pleat pattern in red leatherette. It has the original, correct Ford radio and Magic Air heater. The instrument panel has been fitted with several custom gauges. A very nicely finished custom Country Sedan; the desirable three-speed manual transmission with overdrive makes it excellent for highway travel and touring.

Correction:
Three 2-barrel carburetors have been converted to a 4-barrel carburetor.
Vehicle runs better with the 4 barrel carburetor.
