1931 Ford Model A Description

I am selling this 1931 Model A Ford Cabriolet for a friend. It has been in his family for many years and has been in storage for almost 30 years. The car is sometimes hard to start (maybe because of me) but once started it runs well with no unusual noises. It does not smoke. It has a new water pump, distributor body, cap and rotor, and new wiring under the hood. The brakes work and the transmission shifts smoothly. It has a new Optima battery. Please look at the photo of the rumble seat floor. The car has no rust to speak of. The windows roll up and down easily. The top does the same. It has 5 very good tires. The upholstery and top are pretty well worn. The radiator leaks badly and it will need a new radiator. I recommend that you inspect the car. It can be inspected weekends by appointment as I am seldom where the car is stored. The car is located in Carson, California. The car are sold as is, where is. The car has a clear title in the owner’s name.

The winning bidder must provide a non-refundable $500 deposit through PayPal within 2 days. The balance can be paid in cash for immediate removal. If paying by check, the check must clear before the car is removed. Call 310-200-6776 between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Pacific time to set up an appointment to view the car.

The engine in the car is a Russian built engine. Please read below.

Gene Valdez, owner of Ford Obsolete Parts in Long Beach,

California, had purchased via Czechoslovakia, a seventy-ton

consignment of surplus Russian B engines and parts in 1965.

These engines were originally built in the Gorky (Gorki) plant in

Russia, where they had been continued with few changes from

around 1936 through the early 1950’s, mostly for jeeps and other

military vehicles, street sweepers, fire cars and farm machinery.

Two-hundred short blocks, 45 completely assembled motors with

bell housings intact, and many other Russian-made Model A

parts were included in the shipment.

The Ford Obsolete shipment was the first and only time Ford

parts manufactured in Russia had been exported outside of the

Russian borders due to the original non-competition agreement

with Henry Ford, made in 1930 prior to the construction of the

new “Soviet Detroit.”
