This is a great car to own and drive! Turns heads every time and the compliments fly!

This is a 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible with the Pony Interior and Rare Emberglo in Color! This was the only year that Ford used this color on Mustangs. The numbers match on this car and the color and trim match the door tag. It is a 6 cylinder 200 engine, with an Automatic Transmission. The car has a power top, very important power steering, and power wiper system.

This mustang may not be a trailer queen but it is not your typical worn out Mustang that someone is trying to get rid of before it falls apart. This car is perfect for someone who wants a daily driver or someone looking to make a trailer queen with the base already super solid!

This car has no rust and it is hard for me to see if there was any rust repair. This car has been in our family for over 30 years and we never had any body repair done! This car sat in a climate controlled garage(family members) in Florida for about 6 years and we took it up to New York last summer to get it road worthy again. If the car had factory AC, I probably wouldn’t be selling it. We can’t enjoy the top down due to health issues. The car is a numbers matching car that is straight and solid! It has the original stamp vin on the fender apron and the original door tag. The codes match up with the way the car currently is. The car had been repainted before it came in to our family and it was an OK paint job. Still has lots of shine as you can see from pics but has a few chips, cracks, etc…

After getting the car transported up here, in an enclosed trailer, we had the following done to it;

New Gas Tank and send unit

New front wheel cylinders and Brake Shoes

New rear wheel Cylinders

New Parking break cable

New Trans Shifter Bushings

New Power Steering Cylinder, boot, and bushings

New Leaf Springs

4 New Hankook Tires

New fuel filter

New Air Filter

Rebuilt Carburetor (twice…..1st time the carb had a small fire and was rebuilt again)

Repacked Wheel Bearings

New Universal Joints front and rear

New Strut rod bushing kit(full set)

New Pinion Yoke Seal

New Right rear Tail light bulb and socket assembly

The engine was rebuilt about 10k miles ago(about 10 years ago)

I have put about $5k in it in the last year and nothing was for aesthetics!

The floors, frame and trunk are very solid.

PERFORMANCE

It starts up in all weather conditions and the carburetor choke needs to be closed/opened with ignition. The carb has been rebuilt twice and they are known to not be the best. The transmission shifts perfectly and it does NOT drift or wander on the highway. The brakes do NOT pull to either side when stopping and the brake pedal does NOT creep down.

OPTIONS

The factory options are power steering, deluxe Pony interior, automatic transmission, and power top.

INTERIOR

This car came with deluxe pony interior from the factory as designated on the ORIGINAL door tag, not a reproduction tag which often do not reflect the original options. The optional deluxe interior is extremely luxurious and comes with specially molded door panels, special seat covers with running horses embossed on them, vinyl covered rear interior panels, wood grain instrument bezel and glove box and deluxe wood grain steering wheel.

Although the upholstery is not brand spanking new, it is still in very nice condition . The carpet always had floor mats so there is no wear on it or heel marks on the rubber insert on the drivers side, however, the steering wheel and knobs and instrument bezel show some of their age. The driver seat has stitching come undone on the seams as you can see in pics. The foam under the driver seat is a little soft.

BODY

The body is very straight for a car of this age. There are NO door dings . The inner front fender aprons are straight so there has never been any front end damage . If you look under the car you can see that the rockers and floors are laser straight and there is no heavy undercoating on the floors that could hide any rust . The body is NOT wavy like many of these are that have had a lot of body work.

PAINT

The color is Emberglo which was only released this year so it is a rare color. It was repainted only once which was done several years ago. Lots of luster when cleaned up! There are a few chips and scratches but it still looks great as can be seen in the photos.

VINYL TOP

This was also previously replaced and there is a rip in the seam of the clear rear window as seen in the pic. The rest of the top is fine.

I have one set of keys for the ignition/trunk and I have a set of blanks for the next owner! I have cheap hub caps on it presently but the original wires will come with the vehicle as well!

So what is wrong? The glass is all 100% intact, no cracks. The rubber moldings around the windows/top do not line up perfectly and show signs of age. The rear right window likes to fall off the track. The transmission pan gasket needs to be changed as it slowly leaks fluid from there. This does NOT affect the transmission function and you can probably drive it forever like this. They forgot to change this and I already have enough in to it but I know it’s not an expensive task. The new glove box liner needs to be installed. It is there but it needs to be clipped in and screwed down. The heater/defroster motor is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. I never drove it in the winter so I never had a reason to have it looked at. These carburetors are known to not be the best and I have had this one rebuilt twice to try and get it dialed in. The 1st time, the carb caught fire so I brought it back and it was rebuilt again. It runs fine but like I stated before, it needs to be opened/closed via the gas pedal while starting. The driver seat is soft and the some threading has come undone on a few of the seat seams. There is an AM/FM radio mounted below the glove box so we didn’t ruin the integrity of the original radio and you can listen to FM music. Someone popped of one of the mustang tags on the front right some time when I took it out. I think that is all.

In New York, there is no title for antique cars. Transfer of ownership is done with the registration card which is up to date and clean! Thanks for looking and please ask questions if you have them.
