1953 Ford Other Customline Description

1953 FORD CUSTOMLINE RESTOMOD SLEEPER

This is an original rust free car that was completely and professionally turned in to a restomod sleeper.

This car started out with the original flathead which ran. The flathead was pulled out and then the fun started. I am the third owner and purchased it years ago from a barn. Really, a barn find. It was tucked away and kept out of the elements.

Yes it is a 4 door car. That just means you can take family and friends with you and they can get in and out easily. Same great car/hot rod as a two door for a lot less money.

The exterior of the car is completely original and stock, then you open the hood or hit the gas and well, it speaks for itself.

When I got the car, I realized how great of shape it was in, truly rust free and worthy of all the work to make it a restomod. Please read all the work done.

Engine: Installed a Ford 5.0 L fuel injected V8. Low mileage engine. All the seals and fittings were gone through and changed.

Transmission: Four speed overdrive transmission. The shift linkage is connected to the original shift lever on the column and works great so the shifting is stock.

Rear End: 8.8 Ford differential.

Upgraded the brake system with a four wheel disc brake set up and power master cylinder. The master cylinder booster is a 9” chrome unit. All new brake lines and the emergency brake is connected and works.

Upgraded the entire fuel system with a custom gas tank and fuel pump, and new AN lines and fittings. It does have a return line.

Upgraded cooling system with a new custom aluminum radiator with electric cooling fan. The electric fan has a thermostat and comes on automatically. Stainless overflow tank mounted next to radiator.

Upgrade the entire wiring to 12 V capability. A Ron Francis harness is installed and the fuse panel and computer is on the trunk forward wall. All lights and switches work throughout the car. Blinkers work and even the light on the dash for them works. Even the coach lights on the pillars work. All wiring tied up and secured professionally and looks great. Horn works.

New hoses, belts, fittings, connections, everything engine related are new. Serpentine belt.

The original speedo and fuel gage work in the stock instruments. Gage pack under dash for temp, volts and oil pressure. This is because the original gages in the dash won’t all work with the new engine, they were 6 volt. The speedo works perfectly.

Power steering. This was originally a power steering car. Now it uses the power steering pump on the 5.0 engine.

Upgraded the exhaust system with shorty polished headers and custom 2 1/2 inch dual exhaust with chrome tips out the back. Flowmaster mufflers.

Powder coated wheels with original hubcaps. I have a couple extra original hubcaps.

New windshield and back glass rubber. New vent windows. All the glass is good.

New front springs and all four shocks. New bushings in the front end.

New tires. Less than 500 miles on them. Even the spare is new.

The body paint has been repainted at some point. It is good although done has some dings. Mostly around the valance areas. The paint shines up. It has been good enough to win awards at local car shows. No body panels have ever been repaired or replaced. The under hood is new paint matching the original color blue to include the firewall, along with the engine is painted body color to match. Under the trunk lid and the door jambs is the original paint as you can see by the original stickers on the lid of the trunk.

Freshly painted white roof with urethane. It was painted with the windshield and back glass out.

The spots on the cowl are dummy spots. They look good or if you don’t like them, it is only a couple bolts to remove them.

Detailed and painted engine compartment, to include under hood. Engine is painted to match the body color. The other components like the valve covers, intake, accessory brackets, alternator, etc. are clear coated. All the pulleys are painted black. Engine bay side walls are painted black along with the front support.

I have spent time detailing the underneath and suspension components with POR-15.

Interior has new Scat buckets and re upholstered rear seat to match along with the package tray. When I bought the seats I purchased extra material from them and then had the back seat done to match. The pleats line up perfectly front to back. New visors, door panels, carpet and a new perforated headliner. Console with matching material. The door metal trim was painted to the original color. That is the original steering wheel and dash components. The dash bezels are the original ones. I have the original keys. Trunk is carpeted.

Re-chromed bumpers and grill to include the optional highway bars. New door handles inside and out, new badging. Just had the hood ornament and the trunk latch re-chromed. All the trim is on the car. Some of the side stainless trim has a couple dings which could be hammered out easily. I have a couple extra pieces also. New tail light lenses and rings.

I am the third owner of a truly rust free car. No damage ever, no rust. A tremendous driver. It can light up the tires and cruise on the highway. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the car and it was all professionally and expertly done. It has always been garage kept since I have owned it and before.

I took it out for a ride today as the weather was nice and it rode and drove great.

The spots on the driveway are from me washing the car. The car has no leaks and those are not fluid stains. Thanks.
