1968 Ford F-100 Base Model Description

This has been my daily driver for the last year and a half and gets me the regular thumbs up every where I go . I bought it inland where it spentmost all it's life . Sun had baked off paint in bed on hood and spots on drivers side . Inland that's not such a problem but I live on Coast where bare metal can rust through in a couple years so thus the lighter paint and"STILL" solid steel .For you younger guys that may not have driven an old school overdriv, its not just an extra gear . When i, the overdrive works on all gears in that when you take off but don't shift it free rolls instead doing the compression slow down that sucks gas . This really cool for in town driving when your only going a half a block then turnin, you don't have to shift or step on clutch to keep truck from doing compression slow down .. you just free wheel . This saves a lot of shifting in town driving .Then on freeway driving it's like a full non-granny 4 speed . You have the manual shift through the standard 3 gears on the tree then when you hit 35-40 lift your foot off the gas and it shifts into overdrive gear automatically witch is very tall geared . There is more difference between 3rd gear and overdrive than between 2nd and 3rd gear ! I havebeen getting25 miles a gallonon freeway trips and it drives75 miles an hour smoothly . Body shows it was a farm work truck got small dings but has no rust throug, floor boards still have original paint ! Bottom of front fenders and doors are soli, goodcandidate for restoration .Door windows can be rolled up anddowneasily with two fingers.Has new stereo thatjust hasn't been hooked up .Has new windshield and rubbe, new radiato, heater coreand water pum, themostat and antifreeze . Has newer head with harden valve seats and been converted to electronic ignitio, so no points . And something really cool you can change timing from inside truck while you are driving down the with inside controller . So you can speed up timing a little while on road trip and improve gas mileage or slow timing a bit when towing a load to increase lugging power with out spark knocking . The steering is very tight, no sloppy play and doesn't pull to right or left.Very full brake peda, stops nice and straight, shifts smoothly . New muffler and comes with 4 stock tires and rims with stock hub caps and trim rings and a stock rimand a very good unmounted tire for a spare in addition to mags and tires on truck . Also included is a cool rear slider window that doesn't have bulky aluminum frame .. fits in widow rubber like stock flat glass but just hasn't been installed. Also includesfactory stainless steel rear view mirrors like the painted one's on truckto dress it up just not installed. And lastly it also comes with a fresh rebuilt power steering gear box-pump-lines-mounting bracket to do a full change over to power steering if you are so inclined. 49 years old and Still Truck'n !!!
