Classic American Muscle – Ford hit the styling out of the ballpark with crisp lines and those big, round taillights that reflected the 60’s enthusiasm for the jet age. The paint went down over the well prepped sheet metal even on those massive quarter panels, there is nary a ripple. The finish in correct Rangoon Red and is expertly done and shows almost no flaws yet has a shine, which always seems appropriate on these cars. All the trim (and there is a lot of it) is in excellent condition. It is bright and shiny and the long stainless strips that frame the sides of the car are straight and bright. It proudly wears Thunderbird 390 badge, which reflects the 300-hp FE engine living under the hood. Chrome Thunderbird valve covers, chrome air cleaner and a big four barrel make a great sound when you crack it open, both muscular and refined.
A 4-speed with bucket seats and console is a cool industrial strength early muscle car look, and it works well in the Galaxie. Power steering and brakes compliment the drivability. The interior is in outstanding condition with no damage or overt signs of aging. This one remains entirely stock, including the AM radio in the dash. It’s kind of nice not to see a group of after market gauges hanging under the dash, especially on a car with this much potential. The 3-spoke wheel fits the Galaxies’s personality perfectly and that 4-speed shifter on the console makes a bold statement in a full sized luxury car. Gentlemen’s hot rod indeed. Restored by Last Chance Garage, Riverton, KS about 10 years ago. No rust, outstanding paint, trim and chrome. Beautiful car inside and out.
