1983 Ford F-250 XL Description

This is a well running 6.9 L non-turbo, RWD with 116,500 original miles with standard transmission, power brakes and steering, highway gears in the differential (gets about 20 mpg on the highway if you drive conservatively) with a very good body and bed. Factory dual tanks with electric switch on dash (works perfectly). This truck drives great on the highway and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I bought this truck in Montana and drove it back to Rhode Island so it has only seen 2 New England winters. This truck was passed down from father to son and I believe that I am the second owner of this truck. When I drove it back from Montana I got caught in a snow storm in Minnesota, I kept the rear fuel tank full and drove conservatively. This old Ford handled surprisingly well (has good defrost and heat) and I passed several SUV and 4x4 trucks that had skidded off the road. I have put over $2,000 in parts and repairs which include new windshield, all new tires, shocks, starter, glow plugs, radius arm bushings, u-joints, driveshaft support bearing, brakes, vacuum pump, all new belts, and power brake booster. It comes with a good spare, two extra good tires, a block heater, and snow chains. This truck is inspected and currently on the road. Fresh oil and filter change and fuel filter change. I would like to sell it before my insurance expires in February which is why I have set the starting bid low. I also do not have the room to store it. I am selling this truck because I am retired and reducing my fleet down to one truck that has 4wd. In addition I live on Block Island so a diesel does not make sense if your average trip is 3 miles or less. I think this is a very good truck but it does have faded paint, some dings and scratches, and a mismatched passenger door. In addition, the door and door window weatherstripping should be replaced. This truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells before I get a commitment. I will pay the vehicle ferrying cost to mainland Rhode Island (Point Judith, RI) for the winning bidder and will do what I can to help with shipping but it could be driven home. Please email me or call (John) at 401-218-2585 with any questions. I accept paypal, and certified checks. Thanks!
