1955 Ford F600/F100 dump truck
I'm offering for sale, at NO RESERVE, this great looking 1955 Ford F600. This is one of those old trucks that just has that great look, that a lot of people spend a lot of money trying to duplicate. This one came straight from a Kansas farm, looking just like you see it.
This truck, like most that I sell here on EBay, had been sitting for several years. Most trucks I purchase were running when they were parked, many years ago, and that is the case with this one. It was replaced with a larger truck many years ago, and they finally decided to part with it. The original fuel tank, under the running board, was removed due to a leak, many years ago, and they had run it off of the auxiliary tank you see behind the driver side of the cab. It is pretty dirty from sitting, so it will need to be cleaned or replaced. I simply used a 2 1/2 gallon jug under the hood for a fuel supply. I added a new battery, primed the carburetor, and it fired right up! It did take a bit to start running smoothly, but as it warmed up it smoothed out and sounded good. The truck is pretty loud, as the exhaust has been removed from the collector back. I'm not sure why they removed it, but the collector, flange, etc. is still there so all you need is some 2 inch pipe and a muffler (if you want one!) The brakes are typical for a truck that has sat for awhile. The master cylinder was dry. I filled it with brake fluid, and the brakes did pump up, but they are very spongy and will need at least a good bleeding. The odometer shows 65K miles, and I'm betting that is probably correct, but have no way of knowing. Also, like so many of these old trucks, the title was lost. We have applied with the state for a new title, which is no big deal in Kansas. I should have a new title by auctions end, but I guarantee one within 30 days. Also, this truck will haul easily on an 18ft trailer, as that is what I hauled it home on.
The body on this truck is very solid, especially for a 60+ year old vehicle. It does have its dings here and there, but very minimal for truck of this age. The glass is all in place, and with the exception of the driver door glass, in decent shape. The lights work, but the gauges don't, except the amp meter and speedometer. The doors open well and shut tight, but the passenger door won't open from the outside. The truck does have a 2-speed rear diff, as well as a hydraulic dump bed that works great. The clutch feels o.k, and it goes in and out of all gears fine, although I have not driven this at highway speed. As for the paint, the truck was originally red, it appears the paint may have faded through to the primer in spots, and then they painted over it? You can tell that it was done a long time ago, andit really looks great, along with the visor. The seat appears to have its original vinyl cover, but it is shot and will need to be re-covered. The battery cover is also missing, but should beeasy to find or make one. I would recommend a general service/ tune up, simply due to age. And, as with all old trucks, keep in mind that it is 60+ years old, as are most of its components. This truck hassat for some years so expect some tinkering. This would be great for a novice mechanic, it runs, it drives, but its going to need a lot of little things here and there. More than anything, I just want you to know what you are getting so if you have any questions, please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172. And please check my feedback, it is 100% so know you can bid with confidence. Thank you and good luck!
