1964 Ford Thunderbird Description

1964 Thunderbird Convertible

In 1958 when Ford came out with the four place Thunderbird and it became the car to have for the wealthy set.

However, by 1964, the four place Thunderbird was highly refined and Ford was very happy with the sales especially compared to Corvette sales. It should be noted that General Motors tried to catch up with the four-place luxury sport touring type concept in 1963 with the 1963 Riviera.

About the 1964 Thunderbird in this eBay auction this car has had an owner who has not only been meticulous about making the car look as cosmetically attractive as possible with the white top matching the white body but he has also been very aggressive in bringing the car up to absolute top mechanical shape. Various upgrades to the mechanical top and other systems in this car to make it like a 21st century car to drive on the road. Keep in mind that this car has the retractable soft top that disappears completely under the rear lid with the push of a button. The top also goes up into the closed position with just a push of a button. The car is also equipped with power steering, power brakes (front brakes are disk brakes!) and power windows. Here at MissChiTown we prefer any convertible to have the soft top match the color of car so that you get a unified look between the soft top and the body. This car shows that concept off when the top is up. The turquoise interior compliments the white paint perfectly. It will be noted here later in the description that the car does come with the fender skirts (not shown in pictures). Some people like the fender skirts off for a sportier look and some people prefer the car looking a little more formal with the fender skirts on…the new owner will have the car equipped with or without fender skirts at his choice.

The following is the description from the private seller and as you can see he has been extremely detailed in trying to make everything as good as it could possibly be for a 1964 Thunderbird. The actual mileage is unknown. The private seller tells us that his objective with this car was to make it reliable, safe and enhance drivability and it appears no expense was spared to accomplish his goals. The longest trip he has taken with the car is around 200 miles and he tells us that it starts, runs down the road and stops very nice. The dash has a cap and the private seller uses a fitted dash carpet to protect it from the sun. Kindly read his description below and call 847-774-4857 if you have any questions.

For any collector or collection that has been looking for a 1964 Thunderbird, we can’t think of one that mechanically has been more meticulously gone over and looks equally as good. We also think the color scheme of white on white with a turquoise interior is just perfect. These cars make fantastic show cars at any show and they are great tour cars with plenty power and handle exceptionally well. The driver and passengers bucket seats are more than extremely comfortable. Very seldom do you find a 1964 Thunderbird that has been gone over so completely. Most of them are usually in shabby condition. This one speaks for itself in the pictures. We might say that the reserve is relatively very low compared to the general market prices.
