1931 Model A Ford Slant Windshield Town Sedan
1931 Ford Model A Description
I have up for auction a 1931 Model A Slant Windshield Town Sedan. It is in great condition. Nearly everything is rebuilt and/or restored except the paint. I bought it from the original owner who was in a nursing home. The car was in his barn. I had the engine rebuilt and I did most everything else. Parts and assemblies that have been gone through include the steering gear, front end, brakes, transmission, differential, carburetor, starter, distributor, water pump (leakless), wiring, top wood & covering, glass & regulators, headlights (resilvered), radiator, horn, wiper, interior, taillight, running boards, chrome and stainless steel. The running boards are the now unavailable concours correct Rootlieb manufactured one's. All of the hard to find window moldings and garnish trim are there. The front fenders are nearly flawless but the rears have a few wrinkles. The interior trim has the correct handles etc with butler finish chrome. The interior is from LeBaron Bonney with new seat springs (but I still have the original springs). The differential has a 3.54-1 ratio ring and pinion for better drivability. The rear main seal does not have a modern positive rear main seal so it does leak some. The battery is new and I have an extra one that is Ford script. The speedometer is restored and showing just 200 miles. The pop-out ignition switch is restored and the key matches the door lock. There is also a locking band type spare tire lock on the rear mounted spare. All 5 tires are new Firestone and have red powder coated wheels with metal valve stems. I have owned 200 Model A' s and have over 50 years experience with "A" cars and parts. Attention to maintain correctness and authenticity was paramount in redoing this car. It is a very late 1931 with unique late features. This is a great old desirable Model A. The slant windshield Town Sedans such as this had steel framed doors and a steel floor so they are not plagued with the problems that the wood bodied Fordors and Town Sedans had. And this is a real Town Sedan with all the deluxe features. Although the paint is very old and not good it has such character I just couldn't make myself repaint it. Model A bodies this nice do not come along very often. The car always draws attention and just looks like about the best unrestored Model A out there. Slant windshield Town Sedans are very popular and desirable. This is a chance to purchase a great one at a great price. I have $30,400 in this Model A so as you can imagine it has had a very extensive rebuild. I would be glad to tell a perspective buyer specifically how extensive the rebuild is. If interested and desire more information or have questions just call me. A paid receipt for the purchase of the car will be given at the time of the sale. I also have plenty of early '28 AR and 28-29 closed cab pickup cab and parts. Jim 913-638-7600, Olathe, Kansas (a Kansas City suburb)
