1965 Ford Thunderbird Description

1965 FORD THUNDERBIRD - BARN FIND!!!
Barn find from Altus, Oklahoma. Older gentlemen collected T-birds and had more than 20 in his barn. He passed away 18 years ago and the vehicles had been sitting since. My father and I bought four from the collection, and this is one is the best of the collection and my personal favorite.
This 1965 Wimbledon White couple is a rare survivor. The true miles are unknown, but I have registration records dating back to 1981. We were told that the miles were actual but we are unable to verify this claim.
The paint is ORIGINAL and in excellent shape. Same thing for the interior. I have performed an extensive overhaul on the vehicle including:
- Period correct Coker Radial whitewall tires- Neutral safety switch- Rebuilt power steering gear box- Fuel level sending unit, harness, filler neck, tank & fuel pump- Constant voltage regulator- New spark plugs and wires- Starter & alternator- Ball joints, idler arms and stabilizer links- Master cylinder & brake lines- Wheel cylinders- Window motor on passenger door- Rebuilt carburetorAnd more - all receipts of work performed
It still needs the rear main seal replaced as it leaks oil. It also wouldn't hurt to replace the exhaust system. There is some minor blow-by so an engine rebuild will be performed if I keep the vehicle.
We cleaned the body and chrome and they are both in excellent shape with minimal pitting and surface rust. All panels and chrome pieces are present and in good shape.
As far as options, this bird is loaded. All power including front disc brakes and sequential tail lights. The A/C blows but has not been charged, the heater works perfectly.
This 65 presents beautifully as is.This T-bird drives perfectly and I would trust it for a cross country trip (although I would highly recommend trailering the vehicle). I drive this vehicle on Sundays and during beautiful weather and turn heads everywhere I go. If you are looking for a survivor bird than this is it. Feel free to email me if you would like more pictures. Thanks for looking!
