1931 Ford Model A Roadster Rat Rod Flathead Hot Rod Thickstun Intake
1931 Ford Model A Description
1931 Ford Model A Roadster-it is a fiberglass body with a metal louvered trunk
-early flathead engine. runs smooth and starts right up with no cooling issues. has electric fan behind radiator.-original Tommy Thickstun intake. This intake is original and predates the PM-7 version that is being made as a repop. The stacks are vertical without the crossover that was made common by Edelbrock while he worked at Thickstun's shop in SoCal.-vintage Thickstun valve covers. Thickstun got into boat racing after the hot rodding and created valve covers for the flatheads so they could be mounted on the back of a speed boat. Early hot rodders grabbed them for the cars just to dress them up. They appear original, but I'm only 99% sure, so i'm just calling them vintage. I don't know that these have ever been done as repops anyway.-smooth 3 speed manual transmission. The gears shift smoothly and the clutch is great. I've had no issues with any driving.-Drum Brakes. I've had these rebuilt and they work perfectly fine to stop the car as fast as you want to.-The steering wheel on there now is small and functional. I've included the 40's banjo steering wheel that the car was built with, it was just a little too large for my comfort. It looks really good with the banjo wheel. This car is easy to drive and a blast. The pinstriping on it is well done and tasteful. Exactly how it would have been built back in the 50's.
