1981 Ford Courier XLT
1981 Ford Other Pickups XLT Description
I am selling my 1981 Ford Courier pick up truck. These trucks are pretty rare and not too many are left in good condition. This truck model is the XLT which was the most expenisive Courier back in 1981. If you have not heard of these trucks, they are basically the precursor to the ford ranger, and they are comparable to the more well known Chevrolet LUV. The Ford Courier is based off a Mazda platform and shares its styling with the Mazda B2000.
This truck has the Stock 2.3L Ford engine (Biggest engine available) with a 4 speed transmission. A new clutch was installed at the end of 2016. It has 119,463 miles at the time of this posting.
I also upgraded the Carburetor to a Weber Carb, which greatly increased performance (The truck is by no means fast, but it is a great cruiser and has never left me on the side of the road). I also have the stock carb and intake that I'll throw in with the truck.
I custom painted the truck using Plasti-dip (with color-matched stock wheels), but the body does have imperfections and the dip has aged so it could use a new coat or if you want to repaint the whole truck with regular paint plasti dip does peel easily and under the dip it is already down to bare metal so it will be easy to paint.
I also redid most of the interior. The carpet is new, the dash has been wrapped in suede, and the original bench seat was removed for two bucket seats from a 2001 Silverado that have headrest monitors that came with the seats so they are not connected to anything, but I do have the wires for them.
I also installed a pioneer stereo that has a usb attachment so you can charge your phone and connect your music up to it. The stereo currently powers two 6.5 inch speakers that are in between the two seats. I disconnected the wiring for the stereo because I thought it was draining my battery, but it was just an old battery which I replaced for a new one in April 2017. The turn signals are currently not working and I have not had time to fix this, but I believe it just needs a new flasher.
The rear suspension has a 3 inch drop block with air shocks that can be filled with an air compressor to drop or lift the truck a few inches. Some kids also shot the windshield with BB guns so the windshield is now cracked, but is still usable.
I am the second owner of this truck and have spent a lot of time fixing it to its current condition. It is a great cruiser and I even take it to work from time to time. I have also used it many times to transport my quads and my sports bike. I hate to sell, but I have other projects I want to start.
I believe I covered everything, but you can message me any questions.
