The first generation of theFord Thunderbirdis a two-seatconvertiblethat was produced byFordfor the 1955 to 1957 model years. The Thunderbird was the first 2-seat Ford since 1938.

Ford created a completely new market segment around the Thunderbird, thepersonal car, forerunner to thepersonal luxury car. While a light weight car with a largeV8 engine, the Thunderbird focused more on driver comfort than speed.

This amazingly looking Thunderbird comes with a hard top and a soft top, and both are in great condition.

Mechanical

This T-bird is very rare with a stick-shift and an overdrive rare “P” code 312 V8, a factory 2X4 intake (dual carb) with correct T pot carbs. This car runs and drives great. It’s got lots of power. A collector owned it for many years, and it was always well maintained. The car has110,173 original miles but the title does not show mileage, since it’s an old car.

Exterior

This is a very dry car.It comes with a rear spare mount tire. The frame is solid. It has some imperfections in paint but still looks nice. Chrome looks great, both tops are in very good condition. Well meintained and alwaysgarage kept.

Interior

Overall, it is a very original and complete Thunderbird. The interior is complete, dash iscompleteand crack free. The seats and floors are nice and clean.

This is a very good 60-years-old car.

For the 1956 model, more trunk space was added, the spare wheel was mounted outside (which helped free up trunk space), the exhausts were moved to the ends of the bumper, and air vents were added behind the front wheels to improve cabin ventilation. To improve rear-quarter visibility with the removable hardtop in place, "porthole" windows were made available as a no-cost option. 1956 production was 15,631 units, the lowest of all three 2-seater Thunderbird model years.
