1937 Ford Other Pickups Description
1937 Ford 1-1/2 Ton Truck.
This truck is a ground up build truck. Texaco tanker themed. I have personally been driving this for about 10yrs. It has been in the Ford Dearborn Engineering Car show for about 5 years straight. Chassis: Frame was sand blasted and powder coated in silver vein. Front axle was converted at the spindles to 1941 for hydraulic brakes. The Rear axle is 1986 Ford F350 Dana 60 w/ 3.54 gears and newhydraulic brakes. Brake master cylinder is a Corvette dual master, vacuum boosted. Torque tube wasremoved and converted to a 2 piece open drive shaft w/ carrier bearing from Dynotech. All wheels areconverted to modern 19.5" radial drop center rims and newer radial 19.5" tires. Drive Train: The engine is a 1948 Ford Flathead 59A block completely built by Brother's Customs. UsingMallory electronic ignition. Remote pressurized oil filter system. Dual Holley 94 Carburetors on anOffenhauser dual 2bbl intake. The transmission is a completely rebuilt original late 30's 4 speed trucktransmission, all new bearings / gears at rebuild. Interior: The interior is pretty plain as an old truck should be, but!!! It is full electronic gauges. Speedometer is GPS driven, Oil, Temp, Fuel, Volts; all work. The shifter handle is an actual brass gaspump handle. Steering wheel is an authentic wood "Fatman" wheel. It uncouples with a giant wing nutand tilts 90°. Working turn signal blinkers. Folding seat for access to behind seat. Working crank out"V" windshield. Doors are missing the windows, just never installed. Body: This is a 100% real steel body. The original 1937 truck body was used. A few dents are there from original usage. The body was stripped completely, primed, painted in Killer Flatz green / black /red. The grille is one of the hardest to find 1937 grilles and is original in one piece. The fenders are steeloriginal 1937 fenders. Running boards are powder coated for extra durability. The bed is manufacturedone piece with a full oak tongue / groove decking. Tank is 275 gallon fuel tank, not used. Can beeasily removed to go to straight flat bed. A good full hood will come with the truck, never painted or installed.I liked the open engine. The fuel tank is the grey marine oil tank on the side of the bed. Electrical: Truck is 100% new wiring harness w/ modern fuses. The tail lights are original style 1930s style tail lights, working but with a center "STOP" giant tail light from a school bus. It works proper as acenter tail light. The instruments are all electronic and senders are all modern. Electric fan pushes airthrough radiator hidden by the grille. Headlamps are larger early 30's Buick painted to match the truckfor better scale. Modern H4 dual beam bulbs update the performance of the headlamps. Single Cat'sEye amber fog lamp works. Older refurbished Ah-Ooh- Gah horn works. Not the cheap plastic ones. The BAD: these old transmissions did not have syncro's, so double clutching is absolutely required; sometimes still grinds, actually most of the time unless you're willing to wait between shifts....One windshield interior header cover is missing, cannot find one. The GOOD: The suspension was modified by removing 50% of the leafs front and rear w/ spacers tosoften the ride. It could pull a house off of the foundation in 1 st gear, probably won't use 1 st in normaldriving, creeps too slow. It can, but shouldn't, do 70mph on the highway with the highway gears in therear. Engine cools well, never overheated on Woodward. Stops with power boosted hydraulic brakes. Electronic ignition fires very well, never had any issues. If you have questions about the truck, call / text: 248-408-4260 If the buyer wants this as a FLATBED, I will be more than helpful and remove the tank at no charge. Leaving solid oak flatbed truck.
