1965 Ford Mustang Description

(I am relisting this because my first ad was copied and put on one of those "offer up" sites and I was besieged with bogus offers) 1965 Ford Mustang. C code 289, auto, power steering, vinyl top and am radio were factory options. Inner fender vin matches door data plate and title, so a correct car. There was a dealer added under dashA/C unit added at one time. I removed and kept that, but have no A/C components/brackets for under the hood. This car is a great candidate for restoration and is currently very roadworthy. It runs and drives great and everything works except the radio, which has a light but no sound. I have found that the power to the radio itself is not present, so I am thinking it is a broken wire. Normal 60s Mustang rattles and squeaks of course. The engine, trans and rear are correct to the car. The car was produced August 31 1964. The data plate was retained and is on the drivers door and everything matches. The date codes are as follows on the engine, 4H19G. Intake 4H17. Passenger head 4H5, Drivers head 4H10. The engine and trans were rebuilt in Sept of 2015 while the owner before I had the car. I have receipts from the machine shop for the engine rebuild, and it was bored .040. I didnt receive the trans paperwork but that was rebuilt at the same time from what I was told. The brakes, fuel system were gone through. I rebuilt the heater box and installed a new core. I also installed some wiring harnesses and a set of used later model (1969) seat belts. The carb is not date correct and the distributor currently in it is not date correct. (I do have the correct distributor from the car though). The exhaust is dual and in nice shape. The tires are healthy with tread, but are older. History of the car. I bought it from an owner in Wisconsin. The car previously has been in Wisconsin since 1990, Illinois at one point, and I believe before that, and for quite some time, it was in the south east section of the country, as it was delivered to Richmond. This would explain the solid rails on the car. From my knowledge and strictly my opinion---- Within the last few years, a previous owner installed the floor pans and seat risers as well as a cowl top hat panel on the drivers side. The work was done ok. The drivers side seat riser is off on the high side though. The other body work was done at least 10 plus years ago. Somewhere along the history, the car was tagged on the drivers side and a replacement factory door and fender and aftermarket hood were installed. There is minor collision repair work evident on the driver door striker post and the driver quarter and some poor sanding and paint work on the drivers lower A pillar, where the hinges are. The work on the drivers quarter was not done very well and there is an indent above the quarter ornament, between the scratch and the door handle. I tried to show it in the one picture. (I asked at the time of purchase if the car had evidence of being in an accident and was told no. Well, I am correcting the record on that right now, as I dont want the buyer to be surprised, but keep in mind I under describeeverything, and in this case over describing the damage). It appears the vinyl top was replaced at one time years ago, and I suspect it was at the time the body work was done and the car was painted. Probably 20 plus years ago. The top shows well yet, but does have a scuff mark. See the picture on that. Anyway, at the time of the paint work, they did some mud work on the lower quarter on both sides as well and inside the trunk area where the rear leaf springs are. But that area is very strong yet, so I think it was mostly cosmetic in the trunk pans next to the fuel tank. the drivers door is excellent, but the passenger door is rusted on the bottom. See pic. It can be replaced or repaired and that decision is up to the new owner. My ownership history. Bought this car to restore it in the next 5 years, but for now just to make it a daily driver and have some fun with it, which I have done. I bought new front and rear bumpers and guards, rocker moldings, tail lights items, emblems/letters, handles, door mirror, chrome air cleaner, some wiring harnesses, coil, starter relay, plugs, wires, steering wheel, instrument bezel, and lots of other items and installed them. I removed the under dashair unit, blocked off the holes related to the old air set up. Rebuilt the heater box as mentioned earlier and new control cables. Interior related are new seat covers, new carpet, new door panels, new dash pad, new sun visorsand rear seat to trunk cardboard and I "scabbed" a headliner in. It is not done the correct way, but just cut to fit and I used 3m double sided tape pieces and the wind laceto hold it up until the full restoration would take place. It has actually held in place quite well. There was nothing there prior and I can tell you the roof was in great shape, no pin holes that I could see from the vinyl top being on the car. Anyway, the trunk has a spare, jack and handle and new drivers side cardboard and new trunk mat. I bought the correct air cleaner and heat riser but they need restoring. I have stacks of receipts and many parts I haven'tmentioned because this description is getting long. Anyway, this is a very solid start to a restoration and is a correct car, so it has so much going for it. The car runs and drives so nice it is a pleasure. The car just needs a full cosmetic restoration. It will need weatherstrips, headliner, body and paint and new set of tires. Power steering cylinder is leaking some and should be rebuilt/replaced sometime. The trans leaks occasionallyafter sitting all winter, but that more then likely is a pan gasket or seal somewhere. All the parts/trim on the car presently that I bought- can be reused, so your cost is in the body work and paint. I am selling this car because, and only because, I have a 67 coupe that is restored and am just going to stay with 1 classic Mustang and put some miles and personal time into it. I am offering the 65 at no reserve, so my intentions are serious. So, please be a serious buyer and check my seller feedback, as I describe items accurately. I am selling this old Mustang for restoration, sitting as is, with no warranties implied or written. Good luck, be serious, ask questions.
