1993 Ford Mustang Dealer Special Order - Highway Patrol Description

You are bidding on a 1993 Ford Mustang LX SSP (Special Service Package) that is a retired State Highway Patrol car. This Fox Body car has been owned by the previous owner for 19 years!! The car runs strong with no mechanical issues. PLEASE read all of the information below. I will try my very best to highlight as much as possible.

This mustang was a dealer special order (DSO) as seen by the door sticker. The 1993 was the last year that this package was offered.

The Mustang SSP was essentially a more rugged version of the 5.0 Mustang, with added features (some standard, some optional) not available to the general public. Some of the additional features were:

  • Engine oil cooler
  • Silicone radiator hoses and aircraft-style clamps (blue/grey in color)
  • Auto transmission fluid cooler
  • 130 and 135 amp internally and externally regulated heavy duty alternators
  • Two-piece VASCAR speedometer cable
  • Certified calibrated speedometer 0-160mph (late 1990-1993)
  • Non-operational courtesy lights (safety feature)
  • Relocated rear deck release -(this was moved back to the glove box on this car)
  • Single key locking doors/trunk
  • Reinforced floor pans
  • Full size spare tire (this car has a smaller one at this time)
  • This car does not have the power window/door locks or cruise controloption.
  • This car has a 5-speed transmission. Most were automatic.

This car has been painted all over as the previous owner was meticulous. The seats have been recovered and covers put over them. The AC is cold.

The interior of a SSP car when it is retired has some issues. The car had a new dash put in. The trunk release button was put back into the glove box. The AM-FM radio was upgraded. The original black issue steel wheels were replaced by a set of 1993 factory Mustang chrome wheels.

The car had a front end accident as a SHP car. There was not frame damage. The original radiator was replaced (hence no "dog tags" that are normally on the radiator on SSP car).

The title is clear.

There are no apologies for this car. It is a great example of a service survivor.
