1969 Ford Mustang Convertible Description

Highly optioned showstopping 1969 Ford Mustang Convertible. This breathtaking Candy Apple Red Mustang came from the factory with the 351-2v Windsor V-8 the largest most powerful small block V-8 offered by Ford in 1969. According to Kevin Marti, only1681 1969 convertibles came with this engine transmission combo. When one ordered the 351W V-8 that got you the FMX Cruise-O-Matic transmission (heavier and stronger than the C-4, yet lighter and smaller than the C-6, which came in the big-block cars). The 351W V-8 also got you the now famous Ford 9” rear axle (extremely heavy duty high strength axle, used most commonly with big-block engine cars. The engine, transmission, and rear axle are believed to be the originals. The engine was rebuilt to stock original condition and runs great. It sounds very strong and has the perfect sounding, not too loud, not too quiet dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. The entire drive train is factory stock as delivered from the factory in 1969. The car is equipped with factory original Air Conditioning and a power-operated top which works fine at the touch of the dash mounted power switch. This beauty has been owned by two different dedicated Mustang lovers since 1985. It has been slowly and carefully redone over the last 30 years. Finally completed, it is available for purchase. This one will be hard to match.

Originally Black Jade in color with a white top, this 1969 Mustang has undergone a complete repaint in 1969 Ford Candy Apple Red, a color offered by Ford in 1969. The paint was done by the previous owner and is in very nice condition, but it has some extremely minor imperfections. The power-operated convertible top is black in color, which matches very nicely with the black GT stripe and black out GT hood treatment complete with hood scoop with working turn signal lights. The rear of the car features a GT gas cap and GT dual exhaust tips exiting GT dual exhaust valance panel. The car rides on brand new 15 x 7 Magnum 500 wheels with brand new BF Goodrich T/A radials sized 245/60 and 225/60

The interior, originally standard black, has been replaced with a brand new black full Deluxe Interior as originally available. Additionally upgraded to high back buckets with Mach 1/ Shelby upholstery. The little red highlights on the front seat backs look awesome with the car's Candyapple Red exterior!

The full Deluxe interior features wood paneled molded carpeted and courtesy lighted door panels complete with original type stereo speakers. The dash panels on a Deluxe interior feature wood grained and chrome trimmed panel inserts and a rally clock. This gorgeous Deluxe Interior also features wood grained panels in the floor console which features a flip-open center glove box. The steering wheel on the car is, of course, the coveted 3-spoke rim blow woodgrain wheel, which was also part of the Deluxe Interior package in 1969. This Mustang also features the deluxe textured shifter handle.

This 1969 Mustang Convertible had an extensive chassis restoration as well. It had some rust issues in some parts of the floorpans and chassis when purchased in 2011 by the current owner. The driver side inner rocker panel, a portion of the left rear frame rail, the complete interior floors, and both seat platforms were removed from the car and brand new ones welded in. The rest of the car was remarkably rust free so nootherserious metalwork had to be done. The entire chassis was cleaned and refinished in Red Oxide rust preventative paint. A set of Global West subframe connectors were welded to the chassis for good measure and additional strength. The rear brake system was rebuilt completely with all new parts, including new wheel cylinders and new hydraulic lines all the way to the brand new power master cylinder. The front power disc brakes received new pads and refinished rotors.

The car features a brand new fuel tank, brand new slight performance upgrade rear leafsprings (1” lower than stock) new shackles and bolts. The front suspension was completely rebuilt with brand new coil springs, slight performance upgrade, (1” lower than stock), brand new coil spring perches and spring pads, top of the line brand new lower a arms, and a brand new 1” sway bar. The strut rods and bushings are all new as well. The steering system received brand new tie rods, and inner and outer tie rod ends in this exceptional chassis reconditioning. Check the photos of the chassis. The results are exceptional.

General disclaimer. Car is a 48 year old used vehicle. It is not a new car and should not be expected to be in as new perfect condition. Like all restored classic cars, it is not perfect.
