1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Description

Up for auction is a 1966 Ford Mustang with a 289 V-8, 86,596 on the odometer, all original.

First some background on the car and how I came to acquire it. Back in 1966 a woman from Sayreville NJ went to Spinelli Ford in Sayreville and bought this car brand new. She proceeded to drive this car all 86K miles until her health dictated that she could no long drive. Once she passed 4 years ago I was lucky enough to be offered the car which I jumped at. Although you can tell that the car was driven by an older lady in her later years (few dings, dents, & scrapes), the car rides like brand new, tracks straight as an arrow, runs strong, and does NOT rattle AT ALL! This fact is pretty amazing to me considering that the car is 51 years old. My intentions for this car was to keep it as original as possible due to knowing the provenance of the car and I really liked knowing this was an all NJ car. With my intention of keeping it I still needed the car to be as reliable as possible. The car did sit for almost a year and a half so I had the entire cooling system replaced using a copper radiator to keep the authenticity, & I dropped the transmission and had the inner & outer seals changed. Of course I tuned it up with new plugs, belt, and oil but other than that she was running great.

Once this work was done I showed the car to a friend of mine and he said he had to have it as his Aunt had one similar and it reminded him of her. Long story short I sold it to him for what I paid for it and he was very happy. Fast forward to today and as circumstances would have it my friend has to sell it due to losing his storage space. Since I sold him the car he has only driven it occasionally around his lake mostly on Sundays so it barely has any mileage put on it in the past 4 or so years.

Sorry for the long story but I feel it might be important so some potential buyers since this is such an original car.

Now for some details.

As I said the car does have some dings, dents, & scratches. I tried to get them into my photos as much as I could. The rear bumper has a dent in the middle, & the drivers seat has a seam that just popped open (see pics). The bumpers do have some surface rust.

The car starts right up, does not smoke at all, no valve taps, and idles perfect. The trans shifts perfect, the ride is smooth with ZERO door rattles, dash sounds, or suspension squeaks. The alignment is right on, steering is smooth, and brakes are good. Driving this car really gives you a sense of how it was back in the day right down to not having AC which is a drawback but that's the way the car came! I know there are a bunch of these cars out there but I feel that this car is as unmolested as it gets. There is very minor rust on the bottom of the drivers rear fender and the passenger door but it is MINOR and there is no rust underneath, this is one solid car!

I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. The car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. I will help with some logistics for out of state buyers. I am requiring a $500 Paypal deposit upon 24 hours of auction end and full payment to be made within 48 hours unless other arrangements are previously made. I accept cash, Paypal, or certified check. If you want to pay by personal check you must wait for the funds to clear before I release the car. I have a clear NJ title in hand ready to sell immediately.

You can buy this car, jump in, drive it for years and not have to spend a penny on it.

This is ready to go!
