Common Questions
Q: Why are the prices for these cars all over the place?A: The 67/68 Fastbacks have outpaced the stock market in terms of ROI for the past 10 years. The Eleanor craze has also made these cars so popular that people are chopping up coupes to satisfy the demand. Barrett-Jackson called the 67/68 Fastback one of the top 5 investmentcars under 100k. A big discrepancyin price is usually attributed to the engine/performance and also the level of restoration. A basic, run of the mill Fastback has averaged $38,000 on Ebay. A run of the mill GT350 Tribute (assuming various mods were made) typicallylist for well over 50k. The price reflects the time and cost of getting the variousparts, paintin, instal, any engine work, etc. There are several comparable cars on here for 75-90k. Ironicallyif you slap a silver paintjob on here and add the ELEANOR nose/lights, a 9k investment, makes this car comparable to some listed here at well over 100k. Its nuts!!!!
Q: Why are you selling the car?A: I have a new child on the way and I have a ton of toys. That's it. I love this car.
Q: What is the Trans/Rear gearingA: Car has a heavy duty automatic C6 transmissionand a 9" rear.
Q: Do you have a Marni report?A: Nope, sorry.
Q: Should I just watch the car and wait to lowball you at the end?A: Tire kicker and dreamers, yes. Otherwise if you can afford this car, no. It is nearly impossible to lose money on this car. Engine warranty, all work done already, heck - you could buy it, let it sit in your garage and sell it in 5 years for a 10-14k profit.
Q: Was the car ever in any accidents?A: Not since I have owned it and not to my knowledge.
Q: Do all the lights, windows, turn signals, locks etc work?A: Yep, everything works as it should.
Q: Does the car have AC?A: No, and it gets hot as heck in there too, especially in FL.
Q: Do you have a title in hand?A: Sure do. Titled inTennessee. Lots of antique cars are sans title due to age.
Q: Would you finance me?A: Sorry, not interested in financing anyone.
Q: Are you open to trades or partial trades?A: I would be open to a 360 Ferrari or a Lambo/Exotic kit with cash on top. But that's it.
Q: Does the car leak fluid?A: Surprisingly no. Almost all cars this old leak a little bit, but nope, Shes rock solid.
Q: Do you have more pics of the underside?A: Not aside from the ones posted. Underside could use a cleaning, see pics.
Q: How are the brakes?A: They are fine. Stops as it should, no squeaking.
Q: What about rust?A: No significant rust anywhere. All been cleaned, cut and replaced. Torque boxes and rails are SUPER solid.
Q: If you were to keep the car what repairs would you do?A: Like any 50 year old car, you could always be doing something to it, but it needs nada. Lucky for me, I had all the work done on my dime. If you want to be picky, there is a small squeakfrom the rubber bushing on the front shock when the car is cold. It goes away after 10 mins, but it could use a greasing. Very common issue. Other than that, I've spent 25k in the last 18 months with the intention of keeping her forever so there isn't much that can be done that I haven't already done. Also the paint is an 8 of 10. From 6 feet its flawless, but if you want to find a pinhole bubble here or there and a rock chip, you will. Likely I would repaint the car in 3-5 years, but its not really needed unless its going to be a trailer queen.
If you are looking for a driver that is fun, fast, needs nothing and will be the stand out at any car show, without spending $100k..then DO NOT miss this car. This car started its life at a REAL 1968 Fastback C code car, not a coupe like some of these cars on Ebay, Lots of work went into this car and it is the center of attention everywhere it goes. Its insane, the demand for these. Its nearly impossible to lose money on this car - buy it today, sell it next week for a profit.
