1953 Ford F-100 Description

1953 Ford F-100 Resto Mod

Love this truck. Painted in a two-stage Frost Blue Metallic Pearl. It’s amazing how the sun highlights the paint. Three coats of clear. This was not a $10K paint job and is not perfect but looks great. Really tried hard to enhance the beautiful look of the Ford pickups while making it easier to drive and enjoy.

I've put a YouTube Video here

The truck has just about everything you want in a driver. Motor is a 1970 302. It was rebuilt in 2008, about 7000 miles ago. The C4 auto transmission was rebuilt in 2014 and a transmission cooler was added at that time. The Ford 8” rear end has 3.40 gears. No leaks from the motor, transmission or rear end. Carb is a newer Holley 4bbl. True dual exhaust empties with turnouts under the bed.

Front End is a correctly grafted 1969 Impala independent front suspension. Steering is tight. Front brakes are disc and rears are drums. Rear suspension is a triangulated 4-link. All four corners have air bags. The air suspension system is controlled by an Accuair E-Level system and is powered by dual Viair compressors. It has a 5 gallon tank so there is plenty of air for up and down without running out of air. The E-Level system is pretty amazing.

The truck has air conditioning, but it just stopped working. Was converted to R-134a. AC blew cold but won't come on at all now. I think the issue is with the under-dash unit. Tires are Firestone Wide White Wall piecrust style installed on Wheel Vintique wheels with bullet centers. Seat was covered a few years ago and is in good condition. Door panels and carpet are new. Autometer gauges all work, including the analog clock. Wipers were converted to two-speed electric and work well. All glass has been replaced and door windows roll up and down as they should. Doors close tight without slamming. The side emblems and external door handles are new. Headliner not installed but I have a new headliner that will be included.

18 gallon gas tank installed under the bed. There is a Kenwood Stereo with CD and the speaker unit is behind the rear seat. Floors are amazingly solid – no patches and no rust. Bedwood is new as is the rear chrome bumper.

Since the truck is not a trailer queen, you can easily add your own personal touches on the weekend or whenever while still enjoying the truck. It drives well around town. While it's not real loud driving around town, I tend to avoid the highway due to the exhaust drone at higher RPMs and the lack of tilt steering. To make it more highway capable, I would swap out the column for a tilt Ididit and a less aggressive exhaust.

This truck is just a great cruiser and gets thumbs up and complements everywhere.
