1932 Ford Roadster Description

For sale is the 1932 Ford Roadster, the ex Dripps and Gibby Bonneville E/STR record holder. This is a steel Brookeville roadster body. When the car was retired after setting 2 records it was stripped of its roll cage and drive train. When we got the car, the frame had been cut and was basically junk. A new chassis was built from a set of SoCal frame rails with a full 1/8" floor and tunnel with a X style center with a drop out skid plate /transmission pan that is all part of the framerails / crossmembers and was built on a frame jig for 32 ford frames. the floor fallows the contour of the rails.

Frame sits on Posies rear leaf spring kit and a 8" Ford rear. The front is a superbell dropped tube axle with disc brake (brakes were a used setup and will need rebuilt) and a New Durrant mono leaf spring. chrome hairpins. New Vega steering box. The motor mounts are tacked in and we had plans of powering it with a Y block Ford/ 4speed but the way it sits anything can be installed.

The body comes with a new rear tail pan, the originalone in the body had been cut for a parachute. The body still wears its black paint, lettering and strips from when it set 2 records at Bonneville. The orginalfaring and tonneau cover will need to be fitted to the new cage.

Along with the new chassis that we built for the body, a new roll cage was installed by Delaware Chassis Works / Joe Timney to be able to go back to the salt. The way we had the cage built was that it is mounted to the chassis only and so the body could be removed, this way if we decided to go with another body like a coupe nothing had to be cut. the cage is a work of art, the forming, fitting and tig welding is nothing less then first class

Parts included with the roller, 2 windshield farings, steering wheel with quick release hub. new seat cover for the new race seat that is installed in the car. New front panhard kit. New fuel cell and mounting kits with new rollover valve, new clutch/brake pedals. The flat 32 ford firewall that came with the body when first built. New Brookville tailpan. aluminum radiator.

Bill of sale only, car was never registered for the street. It is still a project that requires more fabrication but is at a stage it can go in a number of different directions.

Car is located in Harrington Delaware 19952, it can be picked up here or arraignments can be made to deliver it to the Fall Swapmeet at Hershey the first week of October.
