1978 Ford F-250 Description

For sale is my 1978 F-250 4x4 Crew Cab.
I bought this truck in March of 2015 and it has lived a charmed life ever since, in the time I have owned it it has lived indoors, received over $3K worth of new tires and wheels and traveled less than 1,000 miles in 2-1/2 years. I have the Les Schwab (West Coast tire chain) paperwork from when I put the tires and wheels on it on and on May 1, 2015 when they were installed it had 75,983 miles, today it has 76,784 for a distance traveled of 801 miles in 29 months. I bought this truck about 60 miles from where I live, drove it home and ever since it has lived in my shop where it has served as a dumpster for clean shop trash and when full driven the approximate 25 mile round trip to the dump. It has never put a drop of oil or any other fluid on my shop floor, it has never not started or ran well and does well at highway speeds that are required on the dump runs.
Within weeks of when I bought the truck I went onto the LMC truck parts site and ordered any of the sheet metal that I thought I might eventually need when I got around to the restoration of this vehicle, I have inner and outer doors, fender wells, cab corners etc (see pictures). I'm glad I bought these when I did because many of these are no longer available on the LMC site. I also bought new side mirrors and a few other basics like side marker light lenses, bed bolt kit and such that are all still in boxes and go with the vehicle.
I have a 5th tire as a spare but not a 5th wheel, my eventual plan was to mount this on a plain steel wheel and put it in a safari rack on the roof.
As the pictures show this truck does have some body and bed rust as well as a cool character dent in the top edge of the tailgate, depending on your wants and plans these are all pretty easy fixes for a body repair person or you could drive this truck for many more years before addressing any of these areas.
I was told by the person that I purchased this from that this truck originally came with a 460ci engine and that has been replaced with a 429ci engine, it is plenty strong and runs well. the person I bought this from had this vehicle in their family for most or all of it's life. Does have dual tanks and surprisingly the switch on the dash and everything works well, both tanks are nearly full so that is a small bonus for the buyer.
This truck runs, shifts and rides well for something that is nearly 40 years old but on the same note if you are not used to old vehicles this is probably not for you. If I was going to drive this thing on a regular basis the first thing I would work on is the steering which is quite loose and requires you to stay focused and drive it but if you do that it is a piece of cake.
My thoughts were to restore this truck and possibly to do a frame swap putting this body onto a newer Ford Crew Cab frame and diesel running gear, the options are endless based on yoru abilities, time and bankroll. I currently have a couple of other projects I'm working on and have space limitations so that is why this is available for sale, my reserve is at what I paid for it along with the tires, wheels and parts. If it sells for that great and I'm sure I will kick myself later for letting it go and if it doesn't sell for my price it will continue to live a charmed life and eventually work it's way into my projects. They are not making any more of these and there are not many left so I am comfortable in my position.
That is what I know, if there is some additional things you would like to see let me know I have a lot of pictures and take more. If you are local or want to come see the truck that can be arranged.
Truck is sold as-is where-is, prefer local buyer but will assist in getting it loaded on your arranged and paid for shipping method.
$1,000 deposit required within 24 hours and full payment within 7 days. Also prefer pickup as soon as funds clear but can hold for a couple of weeks if needed to accommodate your schedule or shipping.
I also have the trucked listed locally so I reserve the right to end the auction unless the reserve is met.
