FACTS AND HISTORY:

The legend of the 427 is well documented. These full-sized cars were tearing up the drag strips and NASCAR track across the country. In 1963, Daytona 500, these powerful cars won 1st thru 5th places. They so dominated NASCAR that they won 23 races-MORE than all its competitors combined.

In road racing the Galaxie dominated their class from Riverside to England. Here are some interesting facts about this incredible 427 engines:

None other than Carroll Shelby picked it to power the iconic COBRA

The only world championship won by an American car was the Shelby Cobra DaytonaCoupe

1966-24 Hour of Le Mans: top 3 winners—427 powered Ford GT40

1967-24 Hour of Le Mans: won again—set 2 records

1978-24 Hour of Le Mans: won again--set 2 more records

This was the first and only American car to ever when the LeMans race
