1979 Mustang indy pace car
1979 Ford Mustang Pace car Description
This is a 1979 mustang indy pace car. The car is solid with minimal rust issues to speak of.I had to end the auction to revise it. Unfortunately I'm not good at this and it tried to say it was sold. I have since canceled the order to list some different pics of the car. I tried to get what I would consider the major issues. There is some rust under the doors but they are very repairable, I also found a spot under the drivers seat that is not rotted through but needs touching up. The right rear fender has some surface rust on the inner wheel well. Other than that the car is very workable. I had to delete some photos that I had on previously because it only allows 24. I needed to relist because I wanted the rust spots under the doors to be seen and it wasn't letting me revise it. The car has had some disassembly started on before I bought it. I bought it in February 2016 and hauled it home from Florida. The car started and drove up on to the U haul trailer fine. It didn't seem to have a lot of power but that wasn't what I needed it for. The guy I bought it off of claimed that he bought it off of the original owners family and that the car actually has less then 18,000 miles. However, I have no way to prove it and it just seems hard to believe to me. The car was bought for $4000.00 when I bought it. I have a spare engine that I had from a previous pace car that I owned that goes with it. The spare motor was built at a local race shop and has not been run since picking up almost 18 years ago. I had invested $3000.00 into the engine rebuild alone. The block was shaved .010 and the head was shaved .020. Because of this it had special Ross racing pistons made for it. The block or head was O-ringed but I cant remember what one. It was a long time ago. I have a spare turbo and exhaust manifold off of a Thunderbird turbo cope to go with it and a modified intake as well. The motor was built to put out around 400hp. I know that doesn't seem like much but back when I had it built it was. I would recommend having the motor tore down just to make sure sitting for 18 years has had no effects. The motor has been stored inside since completion. Now some of the bads, The photos speak for themselves. This car needs someone to do some lovin on it. The original set of keys got lost and I don't have any spares, I never transferred over the title from the last guy. I do have the title but it is still in the name of the people who sold it to the last guy. As you can see I have over $7000.00 into a car that I am willing to let go for $500.00 just to get it out of my hair. I do not have the time I thought I would to restore it and would rather spend my time washing and waxing something already in great shape. The item is located in Berwick, PA 18603. If you have questions the quickest way to get them answered is to call or text 570-854-0052. Some other things to note. It has a brand new sticker kit from ford for the doors that I included in the photos.
On Nov-22-17 at 16:05:51 PST, seller added the following information:I also wanted to mention that the car was originally equipped with factory ac. A previous owner had removed the compressor and associated under the hood equipment for it. I do not currently have any of that equipment.
