Here is a very solid, original and well optioned 1970 Torino GT. N code 429, 4 speed, 3.25 Traction Lock rearend, power disc brakes, bucket seats and factory 15” Magnum 500 wheels. One of 645 N code 4 speed cars according to the Martireport. Dark Green with black interior. Other than one repaint long ago this car is very original down to the carb, exhaust manifold heat riser, radiator, shifter, T handle etc. Spent most of its life in Idaho, had one owner until 2016 and is reported to have77,113 original miles.

The body on this Torino is very solid and overall very straight. It has had one repaint in the original color many years ago and it is showing its age with lots of scratches, chips, fading etc. Looks good driving by but upon closer inspectionthe paint is weak. Floors are amazing and were never undercoated, they still show red oxide primer when you wipe off the dirt. No rust in trunk, cowl, taillight panel, doors inner aprons and just a small amount that was filled when car was painted behind eachrear wheel. There are a couple dents in the right rear quarter from where something fell on it while in storage and a couple very small dents in the driver’s side roof. Nothing major and all easy to fix. Front and rear valances are straight. Driver’s doorwas replaced at one point but all else looks good. Chrome is original and in pretty good shape but does show some age. Trim on the top of the door is pretty good and not all pitted. Glass is good. Magnum wheels are original 15” and are listed on the Marti.Magnums are actually quite rare for 1970 Torino’s and the Marti states that only 618 came with 15” Magnum wheels. The wheels do have some rust and the outer rims should be rechromed but they are original, valuable and much nicer than the reproduction Magnums. It is not all that expensive to have the center separated from the rim, have the rim rechromed and rewelded together. I have had it done before and the finished product is very nice. Tires are old and should be replaced, not that anyone would want whitewallsanyway. Grill is pretty nice, and is better than most but is starting to crack at the top. It would be an easy fix.

The interior is mostly original other than newer carpet and a dash cap. It is completely stock with no speaker holes, aftermarket gauges or equipment. It still has the original Hurst shifter and correct T handle with set screw in the side.Headliner and upholstery need replacement, Door panels are pretty good and rear package tray is nice with no holes and minimal warping. Radio is missing but hole has not been enlarged.

The engine looks completely original and untouched. I can’t quite read the whole vin on the back of the block but I can see 1272 which is part of the consecutive unit number of the car so I am pretty confident it is matching numbers. Also,it looks totally untouched with original carb, exhaust manifolds, engine lift hooks and even the exhaust manifold to carb heat riser which is almost unheard of, especially on a 429 car. The engine starts up with no knocks or smoke other than some black smokefrom the carb needing to be tuned. It runs, drives and stops and could be a driver with a little bit of work. It needs mufflers and tailpipes as they are shot. The clutch has a bit of chatter but works fine other than that and you can avoid the chatter ifyou drive it right. Transmission and original Hurst shifter work well and still retains the original reverse lockout rod. Brakes are good. It has very rare manual steering and the factory idler pulley is still in place. This is a very rare setup and if youwanted to add power steering you should be able to sell the manual steering setup, idler and pulleys for easily enough to put power steering on it. The guys with drag pack cars are often after these parts as they are very difficult to find. It has the 31 spline, nodular case 3.25 Traction Lock rearend.

Overall this is a very desirable Torino GT with big block 429 and factory 4 speed. A very solid car that retains almost all of its original parts. You don’t find many muscle cars that are this complete, solid and original. It could be drivenas is with a little maintenance work or you could do a very light restoration and have a very valuable Torino. The market has started to take notice of these cars over the last few years but they are still relative bargain compared to Chevelles, Roadrunners,Mustangs etc.

International buyers are welcome. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 48year old car that is not new and has not been restored. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. In fairness to all bidders I will notdisclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time, however, my intention is to let the auction run its course unless someone hits the buy-it-now. Reserve is less than buy it now but everybody wants to know what it will take to end theauction so I put a buy it now on there to avoid that question and if this car is exactly what you want and you don’t want to risk losing it then you have an option. Please make sure you have funds available and have gotten permission from your wife, mom orwhomever you need permission from before bidding. Full payment must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Payment by cash or wire transfer only. Shipping is theresponsibility of the buyer but I will help however I can. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
