1979 Ford F-350 XLT Description
Let me start with this is a dream truck that I had absolutely no intentions of ever selling and was building this for myself and to be a future heirloom for my boys to fight over.
Here it is a REAL F350 with its DANA 60 still in tact. The 400M was replaced with a 1970 ford 429 with the DOVE intake and heads the guy said it was recently rebuilt with less than 20k miles. After I got it I replaced the timing chain and gear set, water pump. I also put new gaskets: intake manifold, valve cover, oil pan, and new L&L motor mounts. I drained both tanks and then replaced all the rubber fuel line from the rear tank to the saddle to the selector to the carb. Then new fuel pump, alternator, power steering pressure line, brand new Edelbrock carburetor, with a freshly charged K&N filter. Then came the exhaust and lets be honest you get what you pay for and I wanted that "Eleanor" sound off the movie gone in 60 seconds... Flowmaster super 44 in a 3" of course to give it that throaty sound, and it worked perfect.
Now to stop the beast we needed new pads up front and shoes in the rear, and I replaced the wheel seals in the rear to keep the oil out of the drums. While in there I also replaced the wheel cylinders on both rear drums. And to make sure not to have any problems I went ahead and replaced the master cylinder too.
All new fluids: Antifreeze, Brake Fluid, Engine oil and filter, Transmission and Transfer case.
BODY: WOW! Dang near rust free. Amazing condition, the typical rust places in these trucks are clean and clear. The Floors, cab corners, front body mounts are in amazing condition. I've looked at hundreds of these and this is far and away the best one. I replaced the carpet with sound deadener and the door weather stripping seals, and the door seal plates. The original carpet was even in pretty good shape with only holes where you drag your foot in and out by the kick plate. Look at all the pictures and ask for any more that you want or need I have 100's.
Wheels: Take your choice of the 37" Irok's on the black Weld scorpio's that were painted black (don't ask I didn't do it) I know some people like black wheels so I put them on for some pictures incase someone would rather have them, or the 35"BFG AT's on the Slotted Mags I have polished 2 of them and I can polish the other 2 before pick up if you want them, if you happen to want both sets just add $500.00 to the end of the auction amount. Or, if you have your own dream wheels I can put some steelies on it to ship it to you and we can take $500.00 off the end of the auction amount.
This truck is amazing and is in better shape than most of these aged trucks. Someone along the way upgraded the stereo and cut the original metal dash plate, but I have found an original one with a original stereo and if you want it with the truck it can be included or I could even install if you wanted. The top of the cab has the typical surface rust through the paint, I was going to have the top of the cab repainted original color, there are two holes drilled in it where I assume they had lights mounted. The only rust on the entire truck is on the front tank skid plate, I dropped the skid plate and sprayed rust stop inside and out and then covered with rustoleum black to seal it. There is 2 pieces of molding/chrome missing: The XLT tail gate chrome, and the XLT hood ornament, both are available from LMC but I haven't ordered.
As you can see in the pictures this truck is top notch and in great shape. I had huge plans for this truck and I love it, you can finish it your way or if the buyer needs/ wants anything done to the truck I can assist with any Mods or upgrades for the buyer after the auction for agreed upon costs.
