1978 Ford F150
1978 Ford F-150 Description
Nice 1978 Ford F150 Camper Special with a LOW STARTING BID. If you want or need something both cool and reliable, this truck is for you. This is a no frills truck, perfect for hassle-free weekend cruising, hardware store and nursery runs, or daily driving if you can stand the gas mileage. The original paint is thin in some places, but the patina looks great. Texas truck, so it isn't a rust bucket. There was a little in the drip rails but I cleaned it up and color matched it. It runs and drives great, but I think it's a little over-carburated (new Holley) or needs adjusting, because if you stomp on it from a dead stop it hesitates. I'm old, so I just drive it like a normal person, but it has a ton of torque. I have a lot of money in this truck, so someone will get a deal, and if you've been watching old Fords, the prices are going up. Features:
- Completely rebuilt 400 CID motor from carburetor to drain plug. Less than 1000 miles on the rebuild.
- Brand new, professionally rebuilt C6 auto transmission with warranty
- Professionally installed separate transmission cooler to be sure it lasts
- Brand new Ford factory wheels
- Ford factory "dog dish" hub caps
- Brand new tires. The white walls are inserts and can be removed easily if you don't like them. They were over $100 alone.
- Three Philosophers beer handle shifter
- Dice control knobs. The linkage behind the knobs is sticky and should be addressed. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet.
- New rubberized bed liner. This was NOT to cover something up. The bed is in great shape underneath.
- Dual exhaust sounds awesome without being obnoxious, and has maybe 2000 miles on it.
- Includes heavy-duty bumper for towing. Changing it out takes about 30 minutes.
- Includes a heavy duty Ford factory A/C compressor (not installed) but everything else (plumbing, evaporator, etc) is there.
Again, you'll be happy to own and drive this truck. I started well below some of the other trucks on eBay that need complete restorations! If you're wondering, "Can I drive this truck to XXX?" this is my answer: I have no reason to think you can't drive this truck to Canada if you want, but I wouldn't. The truck is almost 40 years old and I can't testify for the miles on the brakes, rear-end, suspension, etc. Plus it doesn't get great gas mileage. Better to budget a few hundo for shipping and believe me, unless you pay more than $9200 for the truck, you're getting a deal. You can find running beaters for less but why, when you can have something mechanically new and very solid throughout?
PLEASE READ: I am selling the truck because I took a new job in a new place, and have to have the truck gone no later than April 26th. If you need more time I can try to have someone meet you, but let's talk it over before you bid. Also, please only bid if you can pay for it, and if you've already asked for the permission you need. Thank you for looking.
