This is my 1982 Ford Bronco Lariat. I have been restoring and driving this truck for the past 2 almost 3 years. It has over $10k in receipts. It has everything from new motor to new interior to new paint but it didn't start out that way. I purchased the truck in San Antonio, Texas with the story that it came from Mexico. It had a custom paint job and lots of chrome and other signs that it had definitely been in Mexico. Underneath though was a fantastic 3rd Generation rust free Ford Bronco and it was the Lariat model which was extremely luxurious and a rare trim package for the Bronco.
Mechanically the truck is sound. I purchased the truck with a disabled motor so it has been running on a low mileage(60k) 1984 Ford F150 motor for the last 12k miles. It came out of my dad's old ranch F150. Regular maintenance has been performed it's entire life. A new waterpump was put on for good measure before the motor was painted and put into the Bronco. The entire fuel system is new from the tank and everything inside it to the lifetime warranty carburetor. Long tube headers with new exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers. New powersteering pump and lines, New electrical system from the starter to the battery to the spark plugs and all the wires and junk in between. Has the radiator and transmission and oil coolers from F350 diesel . The entire brake system has been replaced with the exception of one caliper that was able to be rebuilt and that includes the 4x4's hubs. Tires are about a year old with ~6000 miles on them. Lots of other misc. parts have been replaced. $10,000 worth, I did all the work myself so that is $10k in parts only.
In 2016 the Bronco underwent an exterior restoration. It had lots of rock chips and scratches and a few small dents but mostly its custom paint job was beaten on too long by the brutal desert sun. I decided to repaint it in its previous custom scheme and chose the “YN - Silver Metallic” used in the 2001 Ford Lightning and for the blue I used “LD - Medium Wedgewood Blue Metallic” from the King Ranch Edition F150s. There was ZERO rust so the Bronco retains all its factory metal. There were 5 or 6 areas where Bondo was used to fill a dent and 1 dent that was missed. The windshield and trim were removed during bodywork and the rubber seals for the removable top were replaced during paint.
The Interior is nice and luxurious in the Lariat trim. The dash has wood grain trim. There is a digital clock in the dash. Super awesome captains chairs that slide, recline and swivel! The rear bench folds down, folds forward or can be removed altogether. Because this model of Bronco doesn't use rear shoulder seat belts, the top is legally removable! Driving around without the top is a lot of fun! Makes me wish they made more convertible trucks. Interior wise all trim has been removed, cleaned and all screws have been replaced with stainless steel screws. The floor pans of the Bronco were sanded and primed and then Bedliner was rolled in to give the metal protection. New ACC carpet was installed in the passenger area with a thick vinyl “carpet” in the storage area. WeatherTech rubber floor mats. The Odometer reads 30k miles because after I replaced the electronics in the tank the gas gauge still wasn't working so I purchased a different Lariat gauge cluster off of eBay. The cluster was installed about 3000 miles ago when the original cluster was reading 68 or 69k miles. Unfortunately, this did not fix the gas gauge so the tank will read empty when there is 10 gallons remaining. The tank and electronics came from the the same Bronco parts company so they do match (its not a 25 gallon sensor in a 32 gallon tank, its a 25 in a 25) The Bronco has a tape deck that is hooked up to the two front speakers. I was planning on installing an aftermarket stereo in the glove box and aftermarket speakers in the front and back but I will hold off as a stereo is a pretty custom thing and I would hate to install new stereo components that I like for the new owner to replace them with the speakers and stereo they like. My stereo can still be installed for the new owner. You may inquire about it if you wish.
Like I mentioned in my other Bronco's ad, This is a race to sell a Bronco. I've had 2 for a couple of years, I really want a first gen 4runner, one truck has to go. Definitely won't need 3. If you have a good bodied 1985-1989 Toyota 4runner with a 22-RE (fuel injected) I will take that in on trade. The 4runner doesn't have to be running and driving just minimal rust and factory fuel injected. I'm a little less flexible on this price than I am on my other Bronco but this is the superior one.
