1929 Ford Model A Description
So as life would have it I am changing careers and some things have to go...
1929 ford sedan. bought as a restored stock running car. was lightly restored sometime in the early 70s. besides the cool old paint on the body, every part of the car has been altered. idea was to make a east coast 50s rich kid hot rod with a few twists.-chassis. to avoidcutting the body, the back of the frame was pinched. to lower the car without Z'ing the frame, the frame was lengthened to make the car spring behind the axle but keep the stock wheel base. pete and jakes rear ladder bar kit. a few leaves removed from the rear spring. all leaves were tapered for a smoother ride. rear axle is from a 64 mustang. rebuilt with 4.11 gears. all new seals and brakes. custom wheel adaptors to run 5.5 new steel wheels. stock rear shocks on frame with custom built links. tubular removable trans crossmember. pete and jakes under floor clutch and brake master cylindersetup custom mounted. front axle is a magnum 5 inch drop. new bendix hubs, drums, and home drilled backing plates. stock split and pie cut wishbones. posies lowering spring.front shocks are welded in friction shocks with custom shackle plates to use stock dog bones.rebuilt reversed corvair steering box. double u joints to center the custom short column from lime works. topped with a limeworks 40 steering wheel. frame was then fully boxed and smoothed. all oil lines and brakes lines are super clean and tight.-wheels and tires. new coker whitewalls and new 5.5 bolt pattern gennie rims.-body. cowl was carefully taken apart. gas tank cleaned out. and very tedious work was done to channel the body to the bottom of the frame with out messing up the old paint. a full bolt on body structure was made. body was shimmed. the doors close perfectly. lots and lots of work went into making the removable trans tunnel. 4 piece, stained, tight fitting, wood floor. tied together with bed strips. removable door jam channel cover. body was thenlightly touched up and buffed out. topis tight and has been conditioned. rear wheel wells undercoated.flathead connecting rod upper column mount. and raised lower colum mount. all glass works great. stock hood. stock grill shell. with with heavily modified stock top radiator. 4 core. and totally custom bottom tank. top filler hole was filled but still has the moto meter. so much work went into making to hood, grille, and body line up perfect. fire wall was the only thing stripped and re painted. wood in the body is perfect. no rust or bondo on the body-engine. 49-53 flathead v8. was rebuilt. with a truck cam. offy heads and intake added. 2 rebuilt NOS holly 94s. fuel comes from stock cowl tank, under the floor and to an electric fuel pump. all the throttle and choke linkage was totally custom built. made carb spacers to clear the generator. made custom belt tensioner to tighten fan belt so fan wont hit the upper radiator hoses. lots of one off stuff built. headers are made from a box of random bends. the are symetrical side to side.rebuilt distributor with pertronix inside.-transmission. recut stock flathead flywheel. s10 clutch andNOS flatheadpressure plate. offy bellhousing adaptor. trans is a t5 5 speedout of an s10that was totallyrebuilt. high quality drive shaft.clutch is activated with achevy fork hooked to a hydrolic pullerslave.-interior. front seats were uncovered. spring lower cushions were eliminated. new highdensity foam added and recovered in old covers. seats were lowered and are adjustable. and still flip forward. headliner is original. rear seat was lowered and is original. small wooden box behind drivers seat holds all the electrical stuff and battery.vacuum wiper works.so many other little things can be listed that were made or changed. generator rebuilt. everything converted to 12 volt. used cloth covered wires or old tar style loom on everything.so in short. the car is channeled. lowered. frame wasn't Z'd. can still seat 4 people. still uses the cowl gas tank. has a v8 flat head and a speed and has a stock length, fitting hood. i have yet to ever se another hot rod that accomplished this. and so many of the cars lines flow so nice. header angle to the wishbone and steering link angle. the way the rear tire flows with the arch or where the fender bolted on...ucan only guess how long it took to actually make that happen. plus the car is very very comfy to drive if you're an average size person. pedal spacing is nice. etc. plus everything on the car can be taken apart.two things were never finished up on the car- new lokar pull up hand brake was mounted in a real nice crossover way in front of drivers seat. needs a pulley mounted up and parking brake cables fabbed up and mounted. rear brakesdo have parking brake parts in them. and a slender radiator recovery tank needs to be made in my opinion. and a full length exhaust if u prefer. just has turn out right now.the car ran and drove amazing for close to a thousand miles. straight and steers great. the combo of the s10 trans and 4.11 gears and tall tires makes it a blast but can still burn first and second gear. and 5th gear is great on highway.the bad- the motor seems to have blown a head gasket on drivers side and milk shaked up the motor. must have happend close to home. because temp never got hot on other side of block where temp sensor is and showed no sign of a problem. so the motor needs to come out for a complete check out.. motor needs to come out anyway to change a head gasket anyway. have every receipt for the car or part numbers for anything that was altered. cut down radiator hoses etc.
I spent 11 years and well over $30,000 to build this guy I just don't have the time to enjoy it anymore. I Really hope this goes to someone who understands what they are buying. Happy Bidding
