Hello Everyone! You are looking at a very special Ford Mustang Fastback. This is a 1968.5 R Code Mustang that came factory equipped with a 428 Cobra Jet engine. This particular car was equipped with a C-6 Automatic transmission, and was originally Wimbledon white with Black interior!
Only 1044 1968.5 R Code Mustang Fastback were built. This car is what some refer to as a double "R" car because it was built in San Jose (R), and has the 428 Cobra Jet engine code (R). Most of the R code mustang were built in Dearborn, MI. From the information I have gathered, less than 200 were built in California.
This car was ordered and spent the majority of its life in California. When it left California, it was taken to Oregon but only stored, never driven.
The car still has its original California Black Plate that was registered to this specific car. I also have some old parking tickets that go with this car and other DMV records from California with this car VIN Number.
So now lets talk about the car.
Overall, this car is in excellent condition. Yes it needs fully restored, but its an extremely solid car and has very good bones and structural integrity.
Did I mention it comes with its original numbers matching 428 Cobra Jet engine? VIN stamp clear on the back of the block!

Not sure if its original.Missing Smog parts.Missing Air CleanerI have the complete engine. Pushrods, cam, rocker arms etc. Its disassembled but its good shape.
Transmission:
Missing original C-6 Trans. But I am including a C-6 from a 428 full size car.
Rearend:
It currently has a non-nodular 9" rearend. Someone must have swapped it out.
Interior:
The interior is basically all there. Someone had put some custom upholstery in at some point and changed the seat colors and put a 67 rear deluxe seat in the car. This was a non tach car.
Glass:
All of the glass is with the car and intact.
VINS:
The car has the VINS stamped on the LH and RH fender Aprons. It also has the Dash tag which is the legal vin for 1968. The door tag is gone.
Wheels, Tires, Suspension:
The car is setting on brand new 15" GT wheels with newer tires. The car still has its original dis break setup, along with the booster, power steering linkages, and large sway bar. Front and rear suspension is factory.
Body:
The body on this car is structurally very nice. The front frame rails are in excellent condition, as are the rear frame rails. The front and rear torque boxes are also in excellent shape. The rockers are very nice and dry on both sides. The shock towers are perfect. It was a California car so its overall a very good car and not a rust bucket. Very solid car overall that wont be a headache to be 100% rust free.
The door jambs both sides and glass channels front and rear are very nice and dry.
The car has been painted about 3 times. White, blue, and the latest red. Right now it just has a coat of primer on it.
RUST:
The car does have a few places of rust. It needs a driver floor pan. The floor support and torque boxes are great, but it does need a floor pan. The passenger floor pan just has rust in the rear part of the floor pan.
The lower quarters on both sides need repaired. It does not need full quarters. Rust behind and in front of the tire. Rust is low. There is a lot a couple rust places around the trunk seal. The trunk lid is new, the original is included. The rust spot is where the trunk rubber met the body. Please see the pictures. Also a couple minor places where the taillight panel meets the quarter/trunk channel. Small spots.
This is a rare opportunity to own a very rare and desirable mustang. This mustang would be a grade investment and would never lose value. Ford did not make very many 1968.5 Cobra Jet Mustangs.
This car wont last long. Please call with questions or feel free to come and view and inspect the car for yourself. Its exactly what I say it is. I can show you everything.
