This car is a shining example of why street rods are so popular. It started with an all steel body from a time when styling departments were designing the best-looking vehicles ever. It was then reconditioned and modernized with the best of everything from top to bottom to produce this first-class example of a beautiful car.
Dressed for success in its two-tone yellow and beige paint, this car will quietly attract attention with its sophisticated look. A maroon pinstripe runs the length of the car following the border of the two-tone and is the perfect complement to both colors. Art-Deco influences of the 1930s define the rest of the look with a tall, vertically slotted grill that extends all the way to the ground, more vertical vents with chrome highlights gracing the sides of the tapered hood, and swoopy body work. Re-plated bumpers with a unique dip in the center adorn each end, and the air seems to have sculpted the body around the separate headlight pods, over the fenders, then smoothly converge again at the rear. Chrome exhaust tips peek out under the bumper, and those taillight pods that even contain the fuel filler and a tag bracket are a dramatic touch. American Racing chrome wheels complete the look with a nice bit of flair.
Open the door and you will be stunned by the craftsmanship on exhibit in this beige interior. A custom door panel with an armrest that looks like it was ergonomically designed greets you. The pattern in the door panel is carried through onto the seats that look so comfortable you will want to get in and head out for a long-distance cruise in them. Go ahead. Do it! Jump in and grab that unique leather wrapped steering wheel, pull the Lokar shifter controlling the automatic trans into gear, and head on out. Backlit VDO gauges let you keep tabs on your speed and critical engine functions, a Pioneer head unit mounted behind the seats pumps out great sound for your listening pleasure, and Vintage Air heat and A/C will keep you cruising at just the right temperature. A custom center console has cup holders for your favorite beverage, and there is a good-sized trunk to carry whatever else you will need for your adventures.
All this classic and custom look is underpinned by modern running gear that makes this car drive like a dream. Folding up that awesome hood is an adventure and a treat all by itself. Under it you will find a spotless engine bay with a tried and true Chevy 350 V8 that has been warmed over with a comp cam, an Edelbrock Performer carb and intake, and long tube headers which provide plenty of power. It is also dressed for success with an air topper flamed out in matching yellow paint, a polished intake, and chrome valve covers as well as alternator. A Walker radiator with electric fans keeps things running cool. Power is sent back through a 4-speed overdrive transmission to a solid rear axle working through leaf springs. Control up front is provided by a control arm set up with front disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. The rubber meets the road through 215/70R15 tires in the rear, and 205/60R15s in the front.
Great styling with a punchy V8. A comfortable and reliable way to cruise the boulevard, or cruise cross country. C'mon down and check it out.
