I know the first thing everyone asks is,
"Does it run and drive?"
Short answer is, yes it runs, no I would not drive it very far.
Please note: Personal or Third Party inspections
are more than welcome.
I bought the car in 2005, with, like many folks, big plans on
resto-modding the car. Old drive line out, new V8 and 5 Speed back in.
It has become clear that I may never get to it, so it is time to see if
someone else can make it awesome.
Please see the last pic for verification that it is truly a factory t-top car.
Most notably, the body buck tag has "TR" in the second line, which I
understand to be short for T-Roof.
The Mustang is a Ghia trim line, as denoted in the VIN sequence.
This is noted in the last pic also. The pic is a print out from Ford verifying
VIN information.
While I always hesitate to use the "R" word, I strongly will state that
these t-top coupes are hard to find.
From what I have learned over the years, this one is about 1 of 1000
t-top Ghia coupes. Now please understand that, "Ghia" coupes with
factory t-tops.
Obviously, car does have issues. As far as I know, there has never been any
restoration work done on it. Only the "band-aid" measures to patch up holes.
The floor pan area behind the drivers seat is the worse. As you can see in the pics,
a previous owner, "PO", riveted a patch panel in. There is also rust through spots under
the rear seat. These were most likely from water entering cabin through the trim piece
on the rear side of the t-top structure, were it meets the roof metal. As with this car, you can see
how PO's have tried sealing up the t-top glass, not knowing its that trim that is letting all the
water in. ( See pic #9)
There are rust through spots in the trunk, but I feel that area will be a lot less
labor intensive to repair. Also a spot on the bottom of frame rail under battery area.
As anyone who has dealt with these early "fox body" will know, these are the typical areas.
All rust was present when I bought the car in '05, and I have kept it in a shed since, so it has not
"taken water" since I have owned it.
The present steering is from an'82 GT I believe. The dash panels are from the '85-86 range GT.
The gauge cluster is also a later style, but with only a 6K RPM tach.
These pieces and the old ratty dash pad are just "sitting" in place, with only a screw or two
holding them, they were only installed to "see how they look"
The Cobra replica wheels are 17", fronts are 8" wide and rears are 9".
Tires are Nexxen's with plenty of tread, but they are getting pretty old,
(not sure when I bought them.
There is a set of t-top panel storage bags in the trunk, and the strap to secure them
is present also.
In the last pic, you will note a new hood badge, that is a true Ford
piece and will go with car.
Car will start and run, with a shot of starting fluid, gas that is in the car is at least
8 years old. I did daily drive it a couple of summers, ( one dry days ),
but again, that has been at least 8 years ago.
Engine runs good, but does smoke badly after warming up.
So given that, I would not recommend that a buyer would make plans on
driving it anywhere.

Car runs well enough to be driven onto a transport.
While the car does not have power windows or locks, it did come with factory AC and rear window defrost.
I did not clean the car up too much, after all, the price I am asking is due to the fact it is a factory
t-top coupe, not because it is super clean or low mileage. It is my assumption that a new owner
will tear the car down for a complete rebuild.
