1949 Ford Other f6 Description

1949 FORD F-6 COE TRUCK

This COE has an excellent body for your project. It is straight and is remarkably dry. The paint looks original, and no filler. Nearly rust free. The truck has nice patina and would look good waxed or clearcoated. If your planning on restoring it though, the body is a very nice one to start with. The mileage of is most likely original. These trucks look nice with stepside boxes from the era. Used boxes are available but reproduction box parts are available to build a new box to your desired dimensions. Box sides, fenders, tailgates, wood floors, etc. are all available to build a box. The transmission and clutch work fine also. Details are in the mechanical section. Clear montana title in my name. Thanks and happy bidding.

MECHANICAL

This truck has what most likely is the original flathead V8. It runs nice but it is not setup to drive. It was running on a jug last. It's been awhile since running but that was just last year and it drove around my shop fine. Brakes need work. Maybe just a master cylinder. Not sure. The truck rolls and steers fine. Transmission holds it well from rolling. This has the manual transmission. It has the two speed rearend also. I'm sure it needs the full fluid flushes and tuneup but it would be usable with a little work. I didn't try the lights or anything electrical but they most likely work. I can try electrical stuff out.

BODY

The body is very nice for an un-restored 1949 truck. The paint looks original. No filler. The body is really straight overall. It has a couple light dings in the fenders, but not bad and a couple will pop out. The only rust is a tiny amount on each cab corner. Very easy repair without doing the whole corner. The cab, floors, frame, cowl, fenders, hood, doors, running boards, etc. are all in nice shape. Doors and hood open/close properly. I've owned and seen several of these trucks, and this is the straightest one I've ever seen that hadn't already been restored (besides another one I had like it).

INTERIOR

There is not much in the way of interior in these, but the seats are original which is nice. It's cleaner than these old projects usually are. Drivers seat has the factory suspension spring and shock. Gauge area all looks good and original. I believe the visors are in it. Engine cover is in it and in good shape. The pics tell the story. Many more interior pics in the dropbox link. I don't believe the dash has been cut at all.

OVERALL

This is an excellent truck to start with for a restoration. As described before, the body is great for a project or use as-is. It has great patina. If you've seen a restored or rodded COE, you know how cool they are. Many people put them on newer chassis, but you could use this drivetrain and shorten it to fit your needs if necesary. If you don't use this flathead engine, you can always use in in a lighter rod project or sell it. They also sell many speed products for the flathead to get this truck moving better if you choose to keep in in here.

The flatbed will be removed when the truck is sold and paid for. You can keep it if you want though. They are easier to ship without the flatbed. Lighter and narrower.

This old truck is sold as-is. Thanks and happy bidding .your listing with Auctiva's FREE Scrolling Gallery.

both doors have rust in the bottoms. I'm sure repair pieces are sold for pickups that will work.
