1957 Ford Courier Sedan Delivery Standard Description

1957 Ford Sedan Delivery This is a rock solid, smooth running/driving vehicle. Your personal inspection is welcomed and advised. This vehicle is currently registered and insured. The Sedan Delivery, Courier, was an extremely low production model in 1957. (approximately 5,300 were produced in '57), (That is just over 100 units per state), and were sold as commercial vehicles, worked hard and usually not maintained well. As a result, not many of this model Ford produced in 1957 have survived, making them comparatively rare, especially in this solid condition. It has the beautiful lines of the '57 2 door wagon with the uniqueness of being a Delivery.
If you take this to the grocery store or anywhere, do not plan leaving in a hurry, as you can expect at least 3 folks to come up, compliment and/or want to know all about the car. Car shows welcome this vehicle, even with the less than perfect paint. A 99% chance it will be the only '57 Sedan Delivery there, no matter how large the show is!
This Courier wagon was originally sold to, and owned, for many years, by theCalifornia State Park Service. Built in the assembly plant in SanJose, CA, the car still has the State Park green in the wheel wells andon the innerdoor skins. It runs and drives smooth. solid and nice. The body is completely stock, and very straight, with no rust appearing anywhere. Ithas a Mustang transplanted drive train, with a 351 Windsor and Mustang, floor mounted3 speed automatic.I rebuilt the carburetorseveral years ago and itsits on an Offenhouser manifold.I had the rear end rebuilt acouple years ago, with new gears and pinion seal. The carhas no rattles or squeaks. Rides on new shocks, front and real, with the rears being adjustable air shocks. The engine sounds healthy outside and is very smooth and quiet inside. It has a surprisingamount of power. It has great compression and has no smoke or unusual noises. It is driven only on dry, Summer weekends, never in the snow or rain. and always garaged. It has new brake pads, springs and wheel cylinders, leather seats, matching front and rear, custom black leather interior. Newheadliner, side panels.Theunique engine turn aluminum panels for the dash distinctively sets the dash apart and hasa looksimilar to the '57 Thunderbird Bird dash. It has a professionally installed adjustable steering column. Turn signals, dash lights, gauges, brakes and head lights, all work as they should. The turn signalsalso work as they should and cancel correct andautomatically,
Mechanically, this vehicle needs nothing. The one thing it needs and deserves in a good paint job. The car has numerous chips and scratches in the paint, having been in a tight space garage, none of which are dents.

Below are just some of the improvements that have beenmade to the car in the last 6 or 7 years I have owned itand the few things that still need to be addressed; MECHANICAL - Completely rebuilt rear end, a couple years ago. (Seal ran dry and damaged the gears.) New gears and pilot seal. - Rebuilt carburetor. New accelerator pump. - New rear individually adjustable air shocks. - New front shocks. - New brakes including spring kit and wheel cylinders. - New exhaust system with new mufflers. (Pipes were bent to original ford bend specifications) - New Master Craft wide tires. (maybe 200 miles on them), mounted on a set of old school Crager wheels, with imitation knock offs andFord crest inserts. - New front wheel bearings. - Just installed a new,Ford, NOS rear bumper - New $100. battery, (less than a year old) - New, NOS rear, center glass window. All rear glass installed with Steel Rubber gaskets. - New rear tail gate plastic crest insert. - New hood ornament plastic crest insert. - New fuel tank sending unit and gauge. INTERIOR: - New leather seats, matching front and rear. - New headliner, (Needs to be steamed at the draw together points. See photos) - New carpeting. door panels, arm rests, and chrome door and window regulator handles. Floor pans were sanded, primed and sound deadening material installed, before carpet was laid. - Chrome window and windshield garnish moldings. - LED, door and/or switchactuated interior, originalroof interior light. - New rear side panel spot interior lights. - New good oval side mounted speakers. - NOS Ford fender mirrors, THINGS NEEDED, -Forward most, short E brake cable is not installed, but the car locks into Park solidly. - Needsa paint job - I honestly do not know if thestock radio works, however new speaker wires have been run inside the side panels connected to new, high quality oval speakers recessed in side panels.for a stereo of your choice, and wires loopedjust under the center of the dash, ready toconnect. - The car could use a power steering set up, at some point, but it steers and brakes straight and solid, just as she is. - The hoses for the heater core has never been hooked up, as the car is only driven in nice days. I believe the core to be good.
